Who: Pete Whelan and Noa Bellamy
When: Backdated to the afternoon of February 8, after Teagan's checkup
Where: The Dog Park
What: Getting to know the home of his patients a little bit better.
Once the three of them had decided to move forward with their little traveling clinic thing - which still needed a really cool name! - Pete realized he had to come to terms with the fact that he was now the kind of person who regularly broke the law. He'd helped out in October because of the extenuating circumstances, and he'd started meeting with Teagan because he hadn't been able to say no to someone who really needed his help. It had been easy to rationalize those instances.
Even though no one he'd seen at the Dog Park today were in similar desperate, life-or-death circumstances, he couldn't help but be glad that they'd come. He'd talked to a couple of people, made sure some kids were growing up well (after reminding them that he wasn't really a pediatrician), and confirmed that Teagan and her babies were doing well. They still had some time before they needed to head back to UMCB, so after texting with Noa he made his way to the meeting point she'd indicated in order to say hi.
"Looks a lot better than the last time I was here," he said as means of a greeting once they were face to face. It was a weird thing for him to say, he knew -- why was he actually happy that dangerous, murderous criminals could now live in safety? -- but it was the truth, objectively speaking. Pete shrugged off the leather jacket Lita had loaned him and tucked it under his arm. "Is there any water or anything around? I could use a drink."
