Who: Olivia Jensen, Maizie Wolfe, Bea Rodríguez, and Kitty Gilmore
Where: The LBJ
When: December 7, evening!
What: A joint (and half-belated) birthday party sleepover! (AKA, Bea and Kitty get 'snowed in' at the LBJ.)
5:30PM. Settling in and coming out. It hadn't taken all that long for them to stash Bea and Kitty's things upstairs in the Oval Office when they'd arrived at the Library an hour ago, and so far, the four of them hanging out together in the family building room was going pretty well. They'd wanted a somewhat private setting for their half-belated birthday party for Bea and Maizie, where the other Librarians couldn't interfere or interrupt or rat on them for underaged drinking to Savannah, and this was the best place for it. Though she'd initially had her reservations, Olivia was feeling pretty glad that Bea had asked Kitty to get in contact with her and Maizie while she'd been away at Luckenbach and they'd been manning the radio. Sure, she didn't really know Bea all that well still and she and Kitty didn't entirely get along yet, but those tensions were worth it for how normal this felt. She hadn't realized just how much she'd missed hanging out with people around her age. "Okay, so. I'm pretty sure we reserved this room for like, at least five hours, so we should be pretty much left to our own devices." Olivia took a sip of water, grateful for the fact that it wasn't as heavily rationed as it had been prior to all of the alliance-making and stuff, and smirked. "The perks of hanging out with the First Daughter, you know?" Nights like this were few and far between, that was the life of a mother -- even one as young as she was. Kitty’s children came first and while there was a thread of anxiety running through her with the idea that they were at Fox Grove with their father, while she was here having what many might consider a ‘normal’ night for people their age. Zach had all but shoved her out the door when Bea had invited her to celebrate both her birthday and Maizie’s. So reluctantly (at first) Kitty had come. That reluctance was waning as she allowed herself to sink into the night and enjoy it for what it was. A chance to relax with girls her own age. While she barely knew either girl from the LBJ, she had trust in Bea’s judgment and the two had been kind enough to watch her munchkins on Thanksgiving. Plus, it was refreshing to be among peers who didn’t see the world the way most of the population of Fox Grove did. “God, who knew there were still perks when the world goes to hell,” Kitty laughed, curling her legs up underneath her on the arm chair she had claimed as hers. “And tell me, what exactly will our ‘own devices’ be tonight?” she paused, glancing between Olivia and Maizie before adding. “Does it involve some kind of revenge for what I did to you on Thanksgiving?” Laughing, Maizie shook her head. “I totally don't hold a grudge for the fact that we were in way over our heads with your kids. Besides they’re cute. Wiggly, but cute.” She glanced at Liv, not sure if she would say the same. Gigi had been pretty well-behaved, aside from the mess making, but Miah was littler and more all over the place. But even though she hadn’t minded watching them, Maizie was glad Kitty had been able to find a sitter or whatever for tonight. Having a couple of little kids running around would have put a damper on hanging out. In fact, it was really nice of Bea and Kitty to come over and help make up for her crappy birthday. They were celebrating Bea’s too, of course, but the idea of a do-over for her 18th was really appealing. It was supposed to special, right? Not marred by her friends’ arrests and her dad’s absence. Having a second shot, complete with a slumber party was way better. “Anyway, I’m pretty sure ‘our own devices’ is probably going to end up being, like, junk food and card games.” Maizie shrugged slightly. As far as she was concerned, it didn’t really matter what they did, just that they were doing it as a group. “And I borrowed some speakers from one of the other residents, so I thought I’d hook my iPod up to it later.” "Exactly. Like, all of that." Olivia paused, her lips curling into a smirk, then added: "And I totally stole booze from the kitchens like, months ago and never drank it. So that's what's in the backpack over there in the corner." She looked over at Maizie and just barely resisted the urge to bat her eyes at her. "Can you please go get it?" Maizie tilted her head, giving Liv an amused smirk that said she knew exactly how much she was being played. Then she broke into a grin and, without arguing, obligingly got up and went to fetch the backpack. Not like she actually minded. On the way back to her seat, she handed the bag to Bea, so that she could dig out the bottle Liv was talking about. “I mean, if there wasn’t any alcohol at my 21st birthday party I would be really disappointed,” Bea said with a laugh. Wow. 21. If the world was still normal Bea would have totally been out at a bar drinking for the first time, getting into all kinds of crazy shenanigans, but even if tonight wasn’t quite what she’d envisioned tonight would be like, she was still happy to be celebrating it with friends. With a laugh, Kitty drawled. “Well, we couldn’t have that.” Even if the legal drinking age hadn’t actually been much of a deterrent for them, there was still something about having alcohol on your 21st that was a milestone. A right a passage, even if the world had gone to hell a long time ago. Grinning at the other three girls, Bea asked, “So, what’s first? Gossip? I know I saw you both at the Greenhouse meeting thing but then I was gone on that trip forever and our radio was busted, so, anything new around here?” Olivia frowned at the thought of that apparently-awful trip. She still couldn't help but feel jealous about the fact that she hadn't been able to go, but the thing about the zombies totally overrunning the town was horrifying and sad. Plus, who had sabotaged Erik's radio tower? There were a lot of questions she didn't have answers to, but she didn't want to dwell on it now. "I mean, not much has been going on over here…" All she did was move back and forth from one 'corner' of the Oval Office to the other, pretty much -- and avoid Nick as best as she could, which was getting harder to do as time went on. "You were still here when I broke my ankle, so that's not really news. And all of the drama with the Capitol and stuff." That wasn't a topic she wanted to discuss tonight either, though. "So, I guess that's it!" But, okay, there was also the actual gossip, too. Olivia's gaze moved sideways, unconsciously, over to Maizie. "Uh, right?" For the second time (third time? she’d lost count) Maizie looked silently back at Liv. Because that totally wasn’t it, and she was trying to figure out why Liv skipped saying anything about what had happened between them. Kitty and Bea didn’t need all the details or anything, of course, but shouldn’t they say? Look at how Savannah had reacted when she found out they’d been hiding their relationship from her! Maizie didn’t want to risk that happening a second time. “Actually, there is one other thing,” she said slowly, weighing the words. After a second she glanced back over at the two girls from Fox Grove. “Liv and I -- we’re together. Like, romantically. So that’s a thing.” Kitty’s gaze bounced back and forth between Olivia and Maizie like she was watching some kind of tennis match, her features schooled into a calm, yet questioning expression until the younger of the two revealed what it was they apparently needed to share with her and Bea. Of all the things she had been expecting, that was not one of them. “A pretty big thing if you ask me,” she chided gently, though the smile she wore conveyed she was more so happy and not the least bit bothered that the two of them were just sharing this information now. “Also really exciting! When did it happen?” Kitty wondered then if they had been together over Thanksgiving when she had been here last. Several emotions cycled plainly on Olivia's face: irrational irritation that Maizie had just come right out and said that (no pun intended), defensiveness as she waited for Bea and Kitty to react, then a gratefulness that bubbled up in response to Kitty's words. "I -- Like, two months ago? Kind of? Like, not really…. I guess more officially a month ago? But like, before then, there'd just been --" Her hands moved from side to side, the gesture an attempt to convey the confusion she'd felt over the last few months as she blushed, very much aware that you were not supposed to be this inept at describing your relationship status. This had been so much easier with Lita and Demi. Hell, it'd been somehow easier with Savannah. But then again, they weren't her peers; she hadn't been as worried about them thinking differently of her as she was just then, with Kitty and Bea. Olivia took a deep breath, then added, "But yeah. Um, I'm dating her." Bea was all about finding love, no matter the gender, and even happier at the idea of her two friends being happy together, but it wasn’t like she was going to make a huge deal out of it. It was a little shocking, sure, since she had no idea Maizie or Liv were into other girls, but it wasn’t that shocking. Without warning, Bea took a few steps closer to them and pulled them into a hug. “That’s super awesome and I’m totally excited for you, but don’t think just because you, like, came out to us that’s going to distract us from celebrating my birthday,” Bea teased, giving them another squeeze before pulling back. “Soooo… did someone mention drinks before?” 7:00PM. Truth or dare. "We're really going to do this?" Olivia looked skeptically at the bottle in the middle of the floor between the four of them. "Is it really going to be as fun with just four of us? Also, since when do you spin a bottle for anything else besides actual spin the bottle?" Kitty eyed first the bottle and then Olivia. “Zombies are literally walking around outside, so does it really matter if we alter a party game to feature a bottle?” her tone made it obvious that she didn’t see the point in Olivia even fussing over any of this. "I mean, it doesn't really matter," Olivia said, rolling her eyes at Kitty's tone. But hey, it wasn't a completely horrible idea. She shrugged and reached out to spin the bottle, then grinned despite her initial doubts as it landed on Maizie, who returned the grin and sat up straighter. "Truth or dare, then?" It was probably pretty obvious which one she was going to pick, really. Maizie was totally the kind of person who was almost always up for anything, but she really, truly excelled at all that in touch with your feelings, wearing your heart on her sleeve kind of stuff. “Truth, duh,” she said, and leaned forward again in anticipation, resting her elbows on her knees. Her gaze made the trip round the circle at the other girls, watching their expressions. Ok, so she liked being in the spotlight just a little. “And make it a good one, Liv!” "Like what?" Olivia was blushing despite herself; all the things she could think of suddenly to ask seemed inappropriate considering that they weren't alone. It was a nice change, of course -- it was so often just them keeping each other company -- but it was enough to throw her as she pursed her lips, trying to think of a question good enough to use now but not too good. Whatever that meant. She took another sip of her drink, then grinned. "Okay. Would you ever have a threesome? If so, with who?" When Liv totally rose to the challenge, Maizie’s eyes widened slightly, but only for a split second before she grinned again. “I mean, I don’t know? It’s not like I’ve ever been in a position where that’s come up before, you know, so I guess if everyone involved was really into the idea, then yeah. Why not? As for who with … ” That was a little bit trickier, and Maizie thought for a moment to give the question the proper amount of consideration. “That depends on the parameters or whatever. Does it have to be someone in this room?” She glanced around the circle again, her lower lip jutting out into a slight pout. “I couldn’t leave anyone out, so it would have to be a foursome instead. But if I can consider anyone in Austin, I’d have to pick --” Not like she was about to name a Hellhound, even if that was mostly who she knew best (and how crazy was that?) so Maizie had to think fast. “Lita, because of the reasons. Boobtacular ones. If it’s anyone alive or dead, though, then I name Harry Styles, which I don’t even think I need to explain.” The whole thing was kind of silly, really, and she couldn’t help but laugh. Bea’s mouth fell open in shock and she shook her head, more violently than the situation called for. “No way Maizie Wolfe. Liam is way hotter than Harry. Have you ever seen him shirtless? I just want to lick his stomach,” she said, fanning herself a bit while Olivia did nothing to hide the fact that she was trying not to laugh. “I mean, Harry is kinda jacked too but he has that stupid butterfly tattoo right in the middle of his chest and I would just keep laughing. Anyway,” Bea concluded, flourishing her hand for Maizie to spin the bottle. Reaching out to lay a hand on the bottle in the middle of their circle, Maizie shook her head. “Agree to disagree, Bea. Liam is totally hot, but there's just something about Harry that works more for me.” She shrugged. “Besides, I like butterflies.” Amused by the whole conversation, Kitty couldn't help interjecting. “For the record I've been told that Zach kind of looks like Harry…” The blonde trailed off with a laugh. “That has nothing to do with anything, other than I think just because of that I probably agree with Maizie in this whole One Direction debate.” "Does everyone here love One Direction?" Olivia asked no one in particular. She'd listened to them for like, a few months when she'd just moved to Minneapolis and started high school, but it had been a short-lived phase. "Lita is way hotter than everyone in One Direction anyway, but like. She's Savannah's friend and my doctor, so that's kind of weird. But let's keep going, I guess." “Yeah, let’s see who’s next!” Maizie gave the bottle a spin, watching avidly until it came to rest on Bea. “Oh, yes! Me! Ummmm, I pick dare!” Bea grinned. Knowing that she was expected to come up with a really worthy dare, Maizie frowned thoughtfully, tapping her finger against her lower lip. There was the ever popular ‘eat this weird combinations of foods’ option, but after two years on the apocalypse meal plan, that wasn’t much of a challenge anymore. What if … Maizie’s eyes lit up as she suddenly thought of the perfect thing. “Ok, Bea. I dare you to send a flirty -- or dirty, your choice -- text to someone on your contacts list.” She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at the other girls and then giggled. “Like your crush! Or the last person you kissed!” Giggling, Bea just grinned at Maizie and reached into her back pocket to pull out her phone. Opening her text conversation with Pete, she typed out her message quickly and pressed send. “There, done! Gosh, that wasn’t even a challenge,” Bea said, winking at Maizie. Setting her phone down beside her, she leaned forward and spun the bottle, watching it spin until finally landed on Liv. "Truth or dare?" "Um, dare, duh," Olivia said instantly, unconsciously echoing the way that Maizie had responded when it had been her turn. Dares were much more fun than being forced into revealing something you weren't ready to share, after all. Bea considered daring Liv to tell the truth about something but that was kind of like cheating and she didn’t want to be that person in the game. So instead she said, “Okay! I dare you tooooooo… twerk for us. Like ass in the air, shaking it, getting wild, the whole thing!” "What? Twerking? I don't think my butt even works like that." Olivia nearly added something else about how it was super unfair since it wasn't like she could stand on her own for all that long just then, but then she realized that doing so would mean backing down from a dare. And that was just something she didn't do, like, ever. So she pushed herself up to her feet and turned around so, as per Bea's directions, her ass was in the air (so to speak). "Okay, I have no idea what I'm doing," she warned before she went for it, hands on her knees as she tried -- and failed -- to twerk. "But, I mean, people tell me I have a nice butt, so I hope that part was nice, at least." Bea let out a low whistle and clapped as Olivia tried her best at twerking. Liv did have a nice butt, after all. Maizie grinned, then ducked her head to hide her smile behind her hand. Olivia's foot and ankle were aching, though, so she straightened up and turned back around to face them, a blush prominent on her face. "Never doing that again, for the record, so…" She reached out to spin the bottle, then grinned at Kitty once it landed. "Truth or dare?" By process of elimination Kitty knew her turn was coming, even still as the bottle landed on her she couldn't help the flutter of nerves that joined it at the idea of what Olivia might have in store for her. “Dare, because God knows what you might ask me to reveal,” Kitty answered, her tone far more confident in her decision than she truly was. "Hmmmmm." Olivia reached for her drink and took a long sip as she pondered her options, then added, "Since I had to do that, maybe we should just keep it going, right?" After all, when had she ever been one to resist taking things to the next level if she could? "I dare you to give Bea a lap dance." Not even trying to hide the grin that appeared on her face, Kitty laughed. “That’s all you have?” Not even remotely phased by the other girl’s dare. She could understand why Olivia might have thought it was shocking to dare her to do something like this, which meant the other girl really likely would be in for a surprise when Kitty didn’t even flinch as she rose up from her seat on the floor and grabbed a chair, motioning for Bea to take a seat. “I can’t promise I’ll be any good at this,” She informed both her best friend and their audience. Bea just made her way to the indicated chair and grinned up at Kitty. It was no secret that she was an equal opportunist and appreciated the fairer sex as much as she appreciated men. Even if she and Kitty were just friends, she’d be stupid not to enjoy a hot girl dancing up on her. If there had been more people she would have felt more self-conscious, but with only Bea and the two other girls in the room Kitty was way more at ease with this dare than she would have been otherwise. So once Bea was situation on a the chair, Kitty took a moment to compose herself and push aside any concern about looking silly, reminding herself that it wasn’t like this was the most shocking thing she had ever done in her life. “So, I guess I just start right?” Kitty didn't wait for an answer, instead she began what was really her best imitation of a lap dance she had seen in a movie once, body moving and sway to music only she could hear as she pressed against and eventually straddled Bea, who cheered and mimed a few spanks to Kitty’s ass, before she lost what little nerve she had and finally asked. “Okay, was that good enough?” As she fought the blush rising in her cheeks. “Totally well done,” Maizie confirmed with a nod, her wide grin once again spreading across her face. “You’ve got some moves, Kitty!” Olivia did absolutely nothing to hide her approving smirk, even as she took another sip of alcohol. "Definitely good enough." Bea gave another cheer and clapped for Kitty before giggling to herself as the thought of Kitty being a MILF entered her mind. How weird that her friend had two kids yet here they were celebrating Bea’s 21st birthday… “A shame it had to end so soon,” she teased her friend, though it also just meant there were more truths and dares to be had that evening, which she couldn’t be mad about at all. Now that they’d been all the way around the circle once, it wasn’t clear whether they were planning to continue or move on to something else. It kind of seemed like a shame to head off the game when it was just getting good, though, so Maizie gestured to where the bottle still lay on the floor. “Another spin?” she asked, looking around at the others. “Anybody in for a second round?” 7:50-8:15PM: Pete & Bea’s text conversation during Truth or Dare. Bea: hey sexy, what’s up? Pete: Oh hey Pete: Kind of a weird day but not much besides the snow that seems to be coming? Pete: What about you Bea: it’s my bday and it just made me think about how when it was your birthday… Bea: ;) Pete: Oh lol B-) Pete: Happy birthday that's awesome!! Bea: thanks <3 Bea: do you like this snow stuff? it’s so weird... i’m stuck at lbj until it stops otherwise my skin will melt off or something Pete: ?? me too Bea: you’re at lbj?? Pete: Yeah Bea: that’s super weird Pete: Yeah Bea: why are you here? Pete: I was visiting my friend and got stuck Bea: well i should probably stop texting bc i’m with my friends rn but if you wanna hang out tomorrow text me Pete: Ok I will let u know Pete: have fun! 9:30PM. Maizie makes an obvious discovery. The snowfall was super weird. Concerning, even, some could say, but just then it was the last thing on Olivia's mind. (Besides, as weird as it was, it reminded her of home.) Not when there was music playing from someone's phone and she'd had the good timing to get her old cast removed and the walking cast on just days prior to this. Dancing wasn't entirely something she could do for hours straight, but in spurts it worked out. They could figure out the snow later. She pushed herself up to stand, her head nodding a little to the beat of the music, and grinned over at Maizie. "Having a good second birthday party? Okay, that kind of makes it sound like you're turning two, which is definitely not the case. You know what I mean, though!" “It’s a great second birthday party!” Maizie agreed, because she did completely know what Liv meant. The do-over was going pretty well so far, she thought. Everyone was getting along and they were having fun together. In fact, the past couple of hours had been practically carefree, the first time that Maizie hadn’t had worries floating around in the back of her head since … well. The night of the ball, probably, but that had been a whole different sort of distraction. Dancing with her friends was a pretty good one too, though. Since Liv was up on her feet, Maizie came over to join her. “You’re having fun too, right?” she asked, slipping an arm around her girlfriend’s waist and looking down at her. Wait -- down? With a slight frown, Maizie tilted her head to look at their feet, checking to make sure Liv was actually standing up all the way. "Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun." Olivia mimicked the gesture, one hand coming up to rest on Maizie's shoulder. She narrowed her eyes at the frowning kind of look Maizie was giving her, though, wondering what had brought it on. "What's wrong, babe?" She looked down at herself too, just in case she had spilled on her shirt or something. There was really no doubt about it; Maizie was taller than Liv by a good couple of inches. Funny how it had never come to her attention before. Maybe they’d just been spending so much of their time together lately sitting down -- or lying down, for that matter -- that it had slipped her memory. “Just noticing our height difference,” she said, with a slight smirk. Her conscience pricked a little bit at the observation, though. Maybe it was the result of all those years of harping on Savannah for being short, which the older woman hadn’t exactly appreciated. Maybe it was the way Liv blushed, embarrassed yet defiant. Looking to cover, suddenly, Maizie also threw in, “That, and checking out your walking cast again. It’s not hurting you or anything is it?” "No, I'm okay." Actually, Olivia's ankle felt a little dull and she could tell that the muscles in her right leg were sore, but that just meant that she was out of practice. And now that she could stand on both feet again, it was the right time to start pushing herself again. But that was neither here nor there just then. "Are you pointing it out just because, or is it like… you didn't know until now?" So much for her attempt to divert attention from her comment. Maizie glanced away, checking to make sure that Kitty and Bea weren't within range to overhear the conversation. Satisfied, she shrugged only the shoulder that wasn't under Liv’s hand. “I mean, I probably knew already, but I guess I haven't noticed it in a while. It's weird because I always pictured us as the same height in my head.” "I guess now you know. Or, like, realized." Olivia lifted her gaze up the few inches she needed to meet Maizie's, then raised one eyebrow challengingly. As casually as Maizie was playing this, Olivia's pride was a stubborn thing. Especially since she knew the reason why she hadn't had much reason to notice was because Olivia hadn't been able to properly stand up next to her in what felt like forever. "You just better still like me is all." Maizie returned Liv’s expression with an amused smile and, after a moment, the grumpy look on Liv's face began to relent. “Duh, of course. Me thinking you're incredible has nothing to do with your height -- you know that, right?” Any other circumstances and she would've sealed the statement with a kiss, but Maizie didn't want to embarrass Liv in front of the other girls. Her eyes dipped to Olivia’s mouth and then back up again -- so it was totally obvious where her thoughts were headed -- but all she did was keep wearing that smile. "Yeah, I know." Olivia glanced up at Maizie's forehead, noting just where she hit her now that they were standing next to each other, then added, "You've been taller than me pretty much as long as I've known you. Just for the record." “Noted.” Maizie tightened her arm around Olivia into a soft squeeze before the pair of them broke apart to continue the dance party with their friends. 10:15PM. Kitty and Olivia argue. “Don't you think you’ve had enough?” Kitty piped up as Olivia reached for their last bottle of alcohol. She wasn't intending to play party police, but they still had to successfully make it back to the Oval Office with raising suspicion, and well, she knew better than some the kind of trouble you could get into when you hit the point of no return. Olivia's eyes narrowed as she looked over at Kitty. The intrusion was totally unwelcome and super out of nowhere, she thought in her admittedly tipsy state. After all, like, she wasn't that drunk anyway. "What do you mean?" “You know what I mean,” she replied while she held out a hand for the bottle, Kitty waiting for the Olivia to hand over the bottle but Olivia's hand remained around the bottle as the two of them looked at each other, both of them apparently unwilling to back down just yet. “Because I don't know about Bea or Maizie, but I don't plan on hauling your ass back to the Oval Office if you've managed to make yourself tipsy enough that you can't walk in a straight line.” Maybe it was harsh, and she knew it wasn't likely Olivia was going to take any of this well. But someone had to stop her before she gave herself alcohol poisoning, right? Not that Kitty thought they were at that point yet or anything. "Okay, you are being super judgmental right now and it's not really a good look for you." Kitty was totally harshing Olivia's buzz, though; suddenly, she wasn't sure she wanted another sip of alcohol just yet, but she'd be damned if Kitty thought that she'd won so quickly. "Besides, I'm an adult and I think I know myself well enough to know when's enough." Kitty sighed, rolling her eyes at Olivia and the other girl’s dramatics. “No, I'm not being judgmental, I'm being responsible, there’s a difference.” The blonde remarked as if she were speaking to a child. “And do you? Because I'm not sure that you do.” Kitty knew she was being a buzz kill, but she also had doubts when it came to Olivia knowing when enough was enough. "'Responsible' is what other people say when they want to feel good about being judgmental." Olivia crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back in her chair, fixing Kitty with a skeptical look. The last thing she wanted just then, or like, ever, was anyone thinking they could tell her what to do without, like, even knowing her! And as friendly as they were usually, Olivia and Kitty barely knew each other. She was being way out of line, Olivia was sure of it, and it was super not cool. Kitty just rolled her eyes at the other girl’s words. “No, responsible is what someone says when they're just trying to look out for another person,” she answered evenly, well aware that neither she nor Olivia knew each other that well. “But we can agree to disagree on this point.” That was the last she was going to say about it, though it appeared as if Olivia still had opinions she wanted to spew. "I mean, maybe it's you who needs a drink," Olivia added, fixing an overly sweet smile on her face as she pushed the bottle in Kitty's direction. "Maybe it'll help you relax so you can stop being such a holier-than-thou, judgmental bitch." “Dealing with you sure makes me need a drink,” Kitty replied, taking the offered bottle in one fluid motion, she downed a good portion of it before she continued. “God Olivia, are you always this pleasant when drunk?” She questioned, choosing to ignore the judgmental bitch remark. It wasn't the first time someone had tossed that insult in her direction and it wouldn't be the last. Anyway, Olivia would thank her in the morning, or maybe not. Either way, Kitty was doing this for the other girl’s own good, even if she couldn't see it now. Olivia put on her most charming smile, the effects of which were only slightly cheapened by the fact that she was pretty tipsy. "Yeah, usually," she said, though the anger and irritation she felt just a few minutes ago were tempered by the sight of Kitty taking a drink and being at least a smidgen of remotely cool. "Glad you took the stick out of your ass though." The only response Kitty gave at first was to roll her eyes and take another drink from the bottle of alcohol in her hand. “There was never one in my ass to begin with,” she replied, her earlier irritation all but gone. “Trust me, you’ll thank me tomorrow when your head doesn't feel like it’s being split open.” Kitty added, though she wasn't even remotely sure if come tomorrow Olivia would even remotely acknowledge the fact that Kitty had in fact been trying to a do a nice thing for her...and it had just unfortunately turned into a fight. "I doubt it," Olivia replied immediately, rolling her eyes. Still, she didn't take another drink, choosing a bottle of water instead. (If they pressed her on it, she'd say she was thirsty, of course.) 10:45PM. Heading back to the Oval Office. It was late way faster than Maizie would have expected. She managed to lose track of time between somewhere between truth or dare and the dance party, and when she finally glanced at her watch again their time in the room was almost up. Thankfully they hadn't made too much of a mess, but she still groaned quietly at the idea of packing all their stuff up and hauling it upstairs. “We have to go,” she said, looking around at the others. “Not that we have to totally call it quits or anything, but it's time to move this shindig to the Oval Office. Who's going to carry what?” As she spoke, Maizie was already reaching for her knapsack, shoving the remains of a bag of chips inside and grabbing her iPod and portable speakers too. Olivia turned to survey the room, then bent down to pick up a few errant beer bottles. She missed her old, tried and true backpack -- another casualty of The Incident -- but in a pinch, a paper bag she'd swiped from Resources would do. "Everyone be cool," she said a little too loudly, a little too drunkenly. "We have to share the room with Savannah and she's totally mad at me." Bea frowned and looked at Olivia, her brows scrunched and her mouth contorted into a duck-like grimace. “But why would she be mad at you? You’re, like, so cool and stuff. And you’re so much fun to be around and I’m really glad we’re friends, Liv,” she said, suddenly starting to feel overwhelmed with happiness for all of her friendships with Liv, Maizie and Kitty. A wonderful side effect of too much too drink as well as it being past her bedtime. As an early riser, she usually was in bed by this point in the night. A happy expression had settled onto Kitty’s features and she couldn't help laughing as her friend extolled just how awesome Olivia was. For a beat she considered commenting that had a few ideas why Savannah might be angry at the other girl, but she was too happy, and frankly too drunk to formulate an effective argument at the moment. Instead she went with focusing on the obvious. “She’s going to know we’re drunk,” Kitty remarked bluntly, her usual filter gone due to the amount of alcohol she had consumed. “Unless, I don't know, we don't say anything….” She giggled, the mere idea of them staying silent amusing to her in her current state. “Can we not say anything?” Kitty continued, grabbing up her own bag from the floor and shouldered it, though the process took longer than usual with her slower reflexes. "I have a problem with not saying anything, as in like, I just can't ever not say anything, unless I have a reason to not say anything and right now I think this is a pretty good reason." Despite the legitimate concern Olivia had about the fact that two of their party were technically underage on top of the worries she still had about the way she and Savannah related to each other now, she couldn't help but grinning over at Bea. "I'm glad we're all friends, too! And that we could have so much fun celebrating your birthdays and stuff." Her grin shifted into something a little more wicked, recalling some of the truth and dare stuff they'd done after the first round. "I think we all definitely got to know each other better tonight." The first, rambling part of what Liv had said made absolutely no sense to Maizie whatsoever, no matter which way she turned the words in her head. Either her girlfriend had had a little too much to drink or she had. Maybe both. Probably both. “Isn’t that totally the purpose of truth or dare, though? Next time we should do ‘never have I ever’ too.” It really had been a fun party. Maizie had been grinning all evening, almost, and it felt really, really good to just let loose for once. “Don’t worry about Savannah, though. I mean, she is kind of my mom, but she’s mostly a cool mom. I think it will be okay.” With a quick check to make sure Liv wasn’t trying to carry too much -- the combination of being tipsy and having a cast seemed a little chancy -- she went to the door and looked out to make sure the hallway was clear. She had this dim idea that the fewer people who saw them all giggly and talking just a shade too loud, the better. Maizie gestured for the others to follow her out. Bea followed along, tipsy enough that she felt like she was floating through the halls of the LBJ. It was so weird that all these people lived in a library but she supposed it was no weirder than living in a school… “Never Have I Ever is super fun,” she agreed between yawns, her brain pausing on the marveling long enough to answer. Now that sleep was on the horizon, it was a struggle to keep her eyes open. Finally though they reached the Oval Office and were relieved to find a light still on in Savannah’s side of the room. “Never Have I Ever is kind of the best,” Kitty agreed in what she hoped was a whisper, series of giggles followed and she tried to smother them with her hand. Hazel eyes darted over towards Savannah’s side of the room, despite the divider and she turned back to the three girls and mouthed “oops.” The divider in the room meant they couldn’t see what was going on over there or anything but at least Bea wasn’t paralyzed with fear about waking up Maizie’s step-mom like she would have been if the room was dark. Walking over to Maizie’s side of the room, she set down all the stuff she’d carried up before going to rummage in her bag for her pajamas. “Who’s sleeping where?” She asked in a hushed voice. Kitty glanced around the space before looking between Maizie and Bea. “You two are the birthday girls, so maybe you should get to pick first?” She suggested, just drunk enough that she didn’t care where it was she laid her head down. At this rate she was positive she could have slept standing up and not even noticed. Olivia, who had already taken a seat on her side of Maizie's bed before Bea had even thought to ask about sleeping arrangements, shrugged, but made no move to get up. "I sleep here," she whispered, unrepentant. Maizie flopped down next to Liv, in unspoken but nevertheless obvious agreement that this was their spot. Luckily before they’d headed to the family room they’d had the foresight to move Liv’s bed so it was already in Maizie’s part of the room. Biting back a laugh at Liv, Bea rolled her eyes at her then walked carefully over to the other bed in the room, sitting down. “Fine, me and Kitty’ll sleep here then,” she said, looking over at her friend and patted the cushion, before letting herself fall back to lie down. Bea’s head felt heavy and fuzzy from the booze, but the night had been so much fun! “Love you guys,” she said quietly, fighting to keep her eyes open. Not arguing the decision Bea made on sleeping arrangements, Kitty settled down on the other side of the bed her best friend had claimed. As everyone else settled down to sleep, Maizie scooted over so that she could spoon up next to Liv. It sucked that they weren't allowed to share a bed anymore, so she was totally going to take advantage of this opportunity. She snuck a kiss into Liv’s hair. The whole party had been totally fun, but the best part of all was the fact that she got to be with a group of friends again. A slumber party with her besties was comfortingly familiar in a world where their lives were nowhere near safe and normal. “Love you guys too,” Maizie replied, smiling softly. “Thanks for making our birthday party super special.” |
