They'd been through a lot in the last year. What with the end of the world and everything, but unlike a lot of people Thomas had never stopped keeping track of the days. No matter how bad things got, it was one of the few things that still kept him sane after everything went wrong. That, and Kylie. Kylie was still with him, it was the only thing he was still truly grateful for after they'd lost nearly everything else. Friends, family, their homes. They'd spent the last two months caravanning with a group of rag tag survivors who'd made it out of their cities without getting killed, or worse. Undead.
Some from the Agency, some even from Camelot, but in the end allegiances didn't matter anymore. All that mattered now was surviving, but sometimes that wasn't good enough for him. Sometimes, Thomas still wanted to try and bring back the good times. He was probably the only person who noticed that today was Valentine's Day, which was understandable. People had more important things to be worrying about, but Thomas had woken up in his tent that morning with the very strong desire to do something other than sleep with one eye open that night. He wanted to have a real night with Kylie, or at least as real as they could make it given their current conditions.
After everyone else in the camp had started settling down for the night, Thomas had someone distract Kylie by the camp fire while he busied himself making up a laughably romantic, Valentine's evening for them. The tent was decorated with a bed made out of extra blankets and a few candles that he'd stolen from the supply truck. Charlie would probably try to eat him for this, but it'd be worth it. He'd also sprinkled the top of the blankets with daisy petals that he'd picked from outside and for their Valentine's dinner, two cans of beef stew and a can of peas. It was a shabby attempt at best, but it was still something. Even during a zombie apocalypse, Thomas still had a few tricks up his sleeve.
