WHO: Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood
WHAT: Soup and Advice.
WHEN: Thursday night, February 26
WHERE: Hospital Wing
WARNINGS: A for Adorable.

Luna was in the hospital wing tonight. She had spent far too much time outside, and busy, and stressed out which was quite unlike her, and had not been properly warming herself for such long periods in the snow that she had landed herself a right nasty cold. And she had tried to push through it because she was Luna and that's what she did, but it hit her all the same and she decided to go to the hospital wing to get a bit of pepper up potion. Apparently she was sick enough that she'd have to stay overnight She told Ginny earlier that day what she had planned to do, and Ginny had promised her soup.

With journal in hand, she went through and read some things to keep herself occupied but she mostly just sketched things. It was a rather boring and dull time in the hospital wing, really, as there was nothing to see much of the time and it was all pictures of nurses and whatnot. They didn't speak much to her, often just shushed her for asking questions of them loudly. It was alright for today, though, Luna's mind was occupied on a lot of other things.

Like Devon Rivers, for instance. And what it meant to be a girlfriend and if she wanted that. Michael had given her interesting advice, but he hadn't made it sound all that lovely. But she did get from it that it was sometimes worth the effort and the discomfort and the possible pain of having a relationship, for those brief moments of happiness. Luna, who was not accustomed to needing anyone or letting herself need anyone, did not know how she felt about it.

Deep in the middle of a sketch, she did not look up when she heard Ginny come through but did let out a somewhat croaky sounding, "Hello, Ginny."

"Hello Sunshine." Ginny walked into the Hospital Wing where Luna was currently staying. She must had contacted a bad cold to end up here. "It finally came." Holding up a closed bowl of soup as she walked across the room to where Luna was currently at. "I also brought two bowls and spoons because this soup was made by the best woman I know. My mum." She smirked as she set the bowls on the nearby table.

"So how are you feeling? Any better?" She grabbed a chair and moved it closer and sat down. "Someone bring you the homework?" Tucking her red locks behind her ear. "If not I can hunt down a sixth year Ravenclaw for you to get that."

Luna smiled, nodding her head. Sometimes, when she least expected it, she felt that pang in her heart that missed her own mother. If she had been sick like this, her own mum would have sent her soup. Probably with something in it to make her feel better, invented by her own mum. She had been brilliant. "Thanks, Gin. Tell your mum thank you for me." She said quietly.

"I feel alright. A bit light headed and heavy at the same time." It was an odd feeling, one she didn't really care for but then who cared for being sick? "Someone brought me the homework, thank you though." Luna moved her legs a little, sitting cross legged across from Ginny. "Ginny, what's it like to be a girlfriend?"

"My family is your family Luna. You know that." She started to pour the soup into the two bowls and handed one to Luna. "It is a little hot. I had to warm it up a bit before coming here." Leaning back into her chair and blew on the hot soup. "Does anything hurt? Or maybe I should ask, do they know what is wrong?" Ginny nodded as she took a sip of the soup. "Good I don't have to hunt people down now."

She choked a bit on her soup at Luna's question. "What sparked this question?" She looked over at her best friend. "Well, um-" She shifted in her seat a bit. "What exactly do you want to know? Because each boyfriends treated me a bit different and thus I acted different."

"That's very kind of you to say, Ginny." She didn't know Ginny's family very well aside from Ginny, her mum, and her dad. She'd met Ron of course, and on a few occasions over summers she had met the rest of Ginny's very large family, but she was mostly just close to Ginny herself. "I think I just have a very very bad cold, is all."

She didn't mean to make Ginny nearly choke on her soup. She was holding her own bowl now, mostly letting it rest on her lap as it cooled. Ginny asked her to be more specific and why she even asked, and Luna responded after some thought. "Well, Devon asked me to be his girlfriend." She started off, before explaining the rest. "He told me he fancied me just before Valentines Day, and we went to the dance together. Then we were busy, and he asked me to a picnic on Saturday. Then he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said no."

After she finished the whole story, she took a bit of soup and then narrowed down her questions. "I mean, what sort of things do you do, as a girlfriend?"

"He did? That is good right? Or no?" Ginny asked her friend. In fact, Ginny was protective of Luna. If anyone wanted to date her, Ginny was going to hunt them down and corner them and see what their intentions were. Luna was like the sister Ginny never had. "Well do you fancy him?" She asked. "Did you flat out say no? Did you hesitate before you said no?"

"Well ..." She took another soup full of soup. "It is kind of hanging out with someone you really enjoy behind around. Except you have feelings for them. You go on dates, snog, and walk with each other to classes. As a girlfriend you support them in Quiddich, be there when they are upset or down, and occasionally keep them from getting detention."

"I did hesitate. I didn't want to hurt his feelings." Luna was always honest. She wouldn't say anything she didn't mean, and she certainly hadn't wanted to hurt Devon's feelings. But her gut instinct had been to say no. She was not so easily swept up by so-called puppy love. "Michael thinks I fancy him. I suppose what I feel is fancying, but I have nothing to compare it to."

What Luna was describing sounded more like a friendship than anything else, aside from the snogging. "But we do all those things." She replied. "Except snog. I suppose that's the difference then, snogging? So being a girlfriend is just like being a friend except there is snogging involved?"

Ginny sighed and set down her soup and leaned on the bed with her elbows and forearms. "Don't ask Michael for advice." She would make a mental note to talk to Michael and ask him exactly what he told Luna. Ginny knew the boy would never do anything to harm Luna, they both cared for her the same. "If you hesitated then you aren't ready. You will know when you are. You will feel it in your gut. And it is okay to have nothing to compare it too, that is part of the dating cycle that is so exciting. It is getting to know if you guys are compatible."

Ginny nodded, "A boyfriend or a girlfriend is dating someone who is your friend. You get along with the person that is key to any relationship. You don't want to date someone you can't stand to be around." The redhead paused for a moment. "I want you to describe to me what you feel towards Devon."

She was still eating her soup because it kept her warm, spiking fevers threatening to give her the chills again. But she watched as Ginny got more comfortable, and nodded her head about not asking Michael for advice. "But I love Michael." She said plainly, because she did very much and she went to him for everything, just as she did with Ginny.

"Maybe I'm not meant for being a girlfriend." Luna added softly, giving a slight shrug before she continued to eat her soup. "Well if that's what a relationship is then I ought think that I'm both your girlfriend and Michael's." She was clearly not grasping the concept of snogging or anything else there, really. Luna's mind just didn't go that way.

"I feel fondness of him. I think he is very kind, and his voice is lovely. He has a very nice face." These were mostly things listing facts, as opposed to actual feelings. Luna was actually quite cut off from her feelings, though it was never something she had truly noticed. "I don't know what else."
