Who: Oscar & Susan Bones
What: Susan finally gets to see her dad after he almost gets kidnapped.
When: 11AM, Tuesday (SLIGHT BACKDATE)
Where: Hogwarts;
Warnings: The usual trigger warnings with Susan.

Monday had been awful. Absolutely awful. In fact, every day since Friday had been pretty atrocious. She had not eaten anything, worried Ernie, passed out in front of Lupin, got herself set up for daily lunch meetings with Professor Lupin to monitor her eating, and gotten into a fight with her Uncle, all after her father almost got kidnapped. She was displeased. She was sad. She was anxious. She was worried. And most of all, she needed a damn hug. From her father, more than anyone.

But he was coming, today, and she had gotten out of Charms specifically to see her father. She suspected Lupin or Uncle Edgar had a hand in that, but whatever it was, her Uncle was busy until lunch anyway and Susan wanted to see her dad the second he got there. Steeling away after Defense Against the Dark Arts, which she felt horribly awkward in, Susan made her way down to her uncle's office so that she could meet with her dad.

Once she got there, she realized she was a bit early and so she sat down in on one of the chairs, watching the door and waiting for her father to come in, her anxiety heightening just a bit - what if this was a set up? What if he wasn't really coming, or he was, but then Lupin, Edgar, and her dad held some sort of intervention for her? She was suddenly feeling quite warm, and pushed the sleeves of her sweater up just a bit, staring intently at the door.

Oscar had no idea what exactly had changed, and could not help being a little...concerned that he was being welcomed to Hogwart's by his own brother. Obviously it would have been fixed with the Headmaster, and likely Susan's teachers if she was not going to be in class, and that only made it all the more curious to him.

Surely it was not just because family wanted to see him. Yet again, perhaps Susan had been worried further by the near kidnapping and that was it... he was fine, clearly, had told her such. As had Amelia, and no doubt Edgar.

Oscar was turning over the thoughts slowly in mind when he passed through the doors, tugging the cloak around his thin frame against the cold that came with the school. After a quick look around, he moved to Edgar's door - should have knocked, but instead let himself in, and found blue-grey eyes sweeping over Susan, brows arched in surprise at seeing her so quickly. "Well! Hello, love."

When the door opened and it was just her dad, she felt the tension leave her quickly and she hopped up, moving swiftly over to her father and wrapping him up in a hug. "Dad!" She said, hugging him tightly.

"I missed you." She said softly, not wanting to let go. Susan wasn't a child, but sometimes a hug from your parent went a long way no matter what age you were. She had been worried sick despite the repeated reassurances that he was fine, and she had a lot of other worries crowding her mind. With her anger at her Uncle, and her involvement with Ernie so new, there was no hug at Hogwarts that could calm her anxiety back down.

After longer than a normal hug would have taken, Susan finally let go and then sat down in one of the cushier chairs in her uncle's office, across from another chair. "How are you, papa?"

"I missed you too, Susan." Oscar answered quickly, sweeping Susan up in a solid embrace; lifting the young girl was easily achieved, given that Susan was slight in comparison, and no matter, was light enough. She was lowered gently back to the floor, although he did not move away until Susan broke the hug and he moved to sit upside her, shifted in the seat to look at the auburn haired girl.

Smiling, Oscar reached out to ruffle her hair before letting his hand rest on the arm of the chair. "Good, but that's expected, innit? How are you?" Oscar was just happy to see his daughter. If there was a school close to home, rather like Muggles did, Oscar would have preferred that to Hogwart's any more. He did miss his daughter.

Under most circumstances she would have freaked out about being lifted, but she couldn't care about that right now. She was too mentally exhausted, and too happy to see her father to ruin the whole meeting by having a fit over it. He didn't seem to notice or say anything, and that was fine enough.

"I wouldn't say expected, not anymore. I mean you were almost kidnapped. And like, broke a nail or something." She teased, because it was finally completely reassuring her to see him, and her worries eased just a bit. "I'm alright. I'm looking forward to taking a nap after lunch, or maybe after Transfiguration." She shrugged, maybe both. She would sleep all day if she could.

"How's mum?"

"I think I stubbed my toe, or so I told Edgar." Yes, a poor joke but Oscar did not want the situation to grow any more tense after everything that had happened and with Susan mentioning it, as if she might actually be worried about it still.

She seemed to do that more than enough. "Sounds lovely. I know that I've wanted to nap after a good lunch more than once myself." Oscar paused at the mention of his wife, and waved one hand. "She's perfect. Bit annoyed with me for coming without her, but she says hello and told me to send her love."

"Very funny, dad." She said, laughing at him. This was the nicest she had felt in a while. It was so good to see her dad, under less tense circumstances than their visit at Hogsmeade.

"I know. I should send her something, I'm sure she thinks I'm playing favorites or something." She didn't want her mum to think that, even if she did sort of prefer her dad most of the time. She loved both her parents a lot, but Oscar didn't treat her like a child.

"So... what was with the ducks?" She was, just like everyone else, very curious about how that had happened.

"Oh don't worry about mum. She's just happy that someone is coming to see you at all, I think...although a gift might go a long way with her too, she would appreciate that." Because he was taking up all of the time which could be going to Susan's mother, instead.

A snort of laughter left Oscar, and he lent back in the chair. Light eyes were fixed on Susan, considering her for a long moment before he spoke up with a bemused tone. "What makes you think I know any more than you, love?"

"Oh yes of course. I'll send her something nice. Oh you know Hogsmeade is coming up this weekend, I could buy her something there and send it to her. She'll like that." She did feel bad - not only had she stolen her father away a few times now to see her, he also worked a lot. Her mother probably felt quite ignored, and Susan didn't want that. It made her feel very guilty.

He didn't answer right away. Instead, Oscar looked at her and Susan felt herself shying away a bit. She always felt a bit small, like a child when he looked at her like that. Like he was really trying to see her. When he did reply, she smiled back at him. "Well you were there, and you know more spells than I do." Although Susan had learned a lot of spells during her readings and all, she didn't know nearly as much as a full grown adult would.

"And... what it looked like. I was curious as to how much chaos that really caused."

"She's bound to like whatever you buy, but she's fine, Susan. Mum's just been threatening that she'll keep you all to herself over the holiday." Of course Oscar didn't want Susan to feel badly, or guilty. More often than not when mentioning her mother it was as a joke.

"Oh." Oscar did not want her to think all that much about the whole thing, but that did not mean that he would withhold the knowledge of what had happened.

"It was very chaotic. It made an absolute mess of all that was happening, which seemed beneficial in some ways...distracting both sides, you know." Oscar gave a quiet noise of consideration, smiling softly at his daughter. "It was a simple, but interesting curse though...or charm. It made other spells not able to be cast it seemed, which meant there were a lot of ducks."

"I know." She didn't want her mother to be upset, is all, even if her father was joking. It wouldn't be something to mention if it hadn't of been mentioned by her, would it? Susan smiled at the joke about being kept for the whole holiday by her mum, though she wasn't sure how much either of them would actually like that.

Oscar went ahead and told her what had happened, and she nodded her head. "That sounds sort of gross, but also silly and somewhat effective." She surmised, imagining a slew of ducks just quacking and making a mess everywhere.

"But that also seems - I mean, I know it was meant to make someone's spells useless, but if it was used by an Auror... couldn't that have also caused his own people to be harmed? Because they were thrown off their concentration because the ducks were everywhere?"

"It was ... certainly quite shocking, to witness. I don't think anyone really knew what to think about ducks appearing every time a wand was raised." Oscar replied easily, considering the sheer ludicrousness of that statement. It certainly was not something he ever expected to say.

"That's a rather mature way of considering it, you know." And it was, not many young people would realize, or think of, in the first place. "Yes, it could've done. Quite easily, actually... but we managed to avoid things getting worse than they already were."

She imagined it must have been both terrifying and a little bizarre in a funny way. Susan was glad she only got to see the picture, and not actually see it in real life.

"Thanks. I like to think I'm sort of mature sometimes." Susan thought very deeply about everything. It was usually negative, causing her to worry like an adult when she should be having fun like a kid. But sometimes, it was useful."I'm glad it didn't. I mean, no one was really hurt right?" She had no idea that Frank Longbottom was in the hospital.

"Yes, you are. Too often, actually." Which was why Oscar worried about Susan more than he let on. Everything seemed to hit her hard, and he was at a loss as to how to fix it. He felt like a shite father most of the time as it was.

"Sometimes being hurt is beyond the point. What matters is no one was killed, and that could have just as easily happened." Oscar paused, letting out a quiet sigh and a slight shrug. "Honestly, we got lucky. They could've done worse."
