Who: Gwen and Calliope
What: After-Hogsmeade goodie exchange
Where: S7 room
When: After Hogsmeade
Rating: PG-13 for snogging
Status: In Progress.

It wasn't exactly easy to get alcohol back into the castle. Although eighteen now and very clearly of age, it wasn't exactly the permitted thing to bring back so trying to attain it at Hogsmeade wasn't easy either. However having a fantastic and completely understandable older brother certainly helped. In between lunch with friends, loads of shopping and tea with Pansy, Gwen had met up briefly with her brother who'd brought her a few items from home. It wasn't the only thing Gwendolyn had brought back from a lovely afternoon out with friends, but it was a rather important component. Armed with loads of supplies, Gwen decided to head straight back to the girls' dormitory. She'd already promised Calliope a few things, having brought with herself a list of things to purchase for her friend, and she might as well deliver those.

Once in their bedroom, she slid off her cloak and scarf as she headed straight for her bed. Depositing her things, she rummaged through it and pulled out the things Calliope wanted before placing those on her friend's bed. Going back to her things she took a moment to put them away in their appropriate place before lying back down on her bed with a magazine open. She supposed she could find the girls but at the moment a bit of time alone wouldn't be bad either. Besides, trying to hunt down Pansy was rarely an easy task.

Calliope had been floating aimlessly about the castle for most of the time everyone had been out in Hogsmeade - when she hadn't been in detention, that was. She'd attempted to go to the library and study a bit, but that had only held her attention for so long. And she'd tried to get something going with Theodore Nott, but that hadn't worked out either. Now, dejected and rejected, she made her way to her dorm, intending to flop down on her bed and feel sorry for herself.

Finding Gwen in the room was a pleasant surprise, if only because Gwen had promised to bring back supplies from Hogsmeade. "You're back," she said pleasantly. "Did you have a nice day?"

She was proud that she had managed to say it without even a little hint of sarcasm in her voice. The fact that she spotted her supplies sitting neatly on her own bed helped a lot. "Oh, brilliant, you got them!" she exclaimed. "Thanks ever so, Gwen. You're a sport."

Glancing up as the door opened, Gwendolyn smiled at Calliope. "I am." She confirmed with a smile. At the question, she nodded. "I did, thanks, busy but that was to be expected. I brought you your things by the way." She added, waiving her hand in the general direction of her friend's bed.

When she then thanked her, Gwendolyn smiled. It wasn't a problem and it wasn't as if she was spending loads of money. "Everything should be there, but if there's anything else, we'll just have to owl-order it."

"I wish I could have been there," Calliope said wryly, "but Renaud made that quite impossible." She picked through the things on her bed, putting them away in their various places. She left the sweets until last, taking them over to Gwen's bed and offering her one before taking one for herself.

"May I?" she asked, indicating Gwen's bed and that she wouldn't mind sitting. "Tell me all the gossip," she encouraged. "Who's snogging whom, who shit talked whom, and so on."

"I know." Gwen said, frowning slightly at the thought. When Calliope walked in her direction, she immediately scooted back just a little to make room for her friend. "It's really a shame, but at least she got into trouble too." Gwen added, smiling and thanking her when she offered a sweet.

"Please." Gwen added, motioning for Calliope to take a seat. "Oh darling, if only there were any gossip. Our year is decidedly boring even the usual sources of bed-hoppers have been immensely uninteresting." Gwen said with a shake of her head. "You'd think the boys and girls of Hogwarts were completely uninterested in sex." She laughed, running her fingers through her hair, tossing the strands over her shoulder. As if that were even remotely possible for teens!

That was all it took for the floodgates to open. "Oh, you do not have to tell me twice," she ranted. "Uninterested in sex! I practically threw myself at Theodore Nott today and he turned me down! I ask you, what redblooded British bloke turns down a free blowie?" She pouted prettily, climbing up on the bed and arranging herself artfully next to Gwen.

"Either he's a bit... twinkly in the trouser area, or maybe I'm..." It killed her to say this, even just fishing for compliments. Her whole identity was built around believing the complete opposite of what she was about to say. "Maybe I'm just not pretty enough," she mumbled, eyes wide, face troubled. "Because I can't think why else he'd..."

When Calliope started to get excited, Gwen perked up just a bit, rather interested in what was coming next. "Did you really? I didn't know you - "Gwenolyn stopped abruptly as the words registered. "Hang on,you did what?" That was definitely bold. Sure, it wasn't like Gwen hadn't done that before - not Theo, of course, Draco was more her type - but she wouldn't outright offer. Still, she listened dutifully.

"Maybe he..." Gwen echoed shaking her head. Why Theo would turn her down was beyond her, but the moment Calliope started blaming herself Gwen gasped and shook her head. As a friend, she couldn't let that one go. "Oh don't be daft. You're one f the prettiest girls in this school and if Theodore can't see that, then he's clearly blind and stupid!" She said, sitting up now and throwing her arms around her friend. "Come on, darling. Chin up. I've got some goodies.Forget him."

"I offered," Calliope confirmed in a dull voice. "I've done it once before, and I quite liked it, and I rather thought he might quite like it, but he turned me down flat."

When Gwen threw her arms around her, Calliope stiffened initially - she was still a bit leery after the Renaud incident - but after a moment, relaxed into Gwen's impromptu embrace. "What kind of goodies?" she sniffled, looking up at Gwen. "Blind... and stupid you say?"

"I'm sure he would have." Gwendolyn said, trying to console her friend. It wasn't like it wasn't true.

Calliope tensed for a second and Gwen nearly let her go but decided against it. She needed a hug; that was decided. "Very blind and very stupid." Gwendolyn confirmed with a nod. "Why else would any boy in his right mind turn you down?" Gwen said with a shake of her head as she pulled back and smiled at Calliope. "Come on, darling, we both know you're fab." She said, completely letting her go. Scooting back a little she moved toward the edge of her bed and bent over the side so she could reach beneath it."I have some sweets, chocolates and a bit of voddie." She said as she rummaged. She didn't actually like chocolate, though somehow people seemed to forget that and was usually quite careful with ingesting sweets so she usually had loads.

"You're right," Calliope said with a final sniff. "I'm gorgeous, clearly. He's an idiot, and I hope his tiny little willy falls off." She giggled.

The vodka made her light up. "Now you're talking," she said decisively. "Sod boys and their manky willies. Three cheers for girl power and good old fashioned vodka!"

Gwendolyn laughed at Calliope's change in tone. They both knew this was going to be far less about actual tears and so much more about general whinging. "Yes, exactly that." She laughed as she finally found the book and pulled out the bottle. Holding it up in triumph she grinned.

"Got it!" She said happily as she straightened back up and settled herself straight back on her bed. "To amazing girls and their gorgeous selves!" She grinned as she unscrewed the top and handed it over, letting Calliope have the first sip.

A sip was a conservative description of Calliope's first hit of the vodka. She gulped down a few swallows, wincing and cringing at the burn but doing her best not to choke on it. "Merlin, the first go's never easy, is it?" she panted, handing the bottle over.

"You never said, was there a boy you had your eye on that we can trash while we're trashing Nearly-Knobless Nott."

Watching Calliope with the bottle, Gwendolyn laughed as she noticed the look on her friends face. That was sometimes the best part. Giggling, she shook her head at the comment and accepted the bottle for herself.

At the question, Gwendolyn briefly thought about Pansy and the way she'd looked that afternoon. At the nickname, however, she nearly choked on her sip of vodka ad laughed. "Oh Salazar, Calliope, please tell me that one will stick." She giggled and took another sip then shook her head. "Not really, though Salazar only knows why Zacharias hasn't succumbed yet." Gwen said with a smirk.

"We can try to get it to catch on," Calliope laughed back. The vodka was warming her from the inside out, and the feeling was rather pleasant. The mention of Zacharias caught her attention though. "D'you fancy him then?" she asked curiously.

She took the bottle back and took another swig. "Are you trying to get me drunk, Montgomery?" she teased. "Because if you are... well, you're well on the way to succeeding."

"Sure why not. Just let some of the firsties know, maybe some second years and before you know it! " Gwen explained giggling as she raised the bottle. "Oh I dunno, he's fit enough, but I'd probably get bored after 20 minutes. It would be interesting to find if he has a squishy centre." Gwen added, wriggling her brows before laughing again. Nah, if she fancied anyone it likely wasn't a Hogwarts boy. Taking another sip, she handed the bottle over.

"I dunno, it's not like we're really spoilt for choice. Draco's not here anymore and then there's Michael, he's fit, Terry too but the rest..." She shrugged. Gwen grinned then at the mention. "Now why would I want you get you drunk, Travers? I could have my way with you sober." She said giggling before nodding towards the bottle. "Go on, darling, no reason not to."

"You're very pretty, but still a girl. Emphatic pass," Calliope said, sticking her tongue out at Gwen, but taking the bottle nonetheless.

"You know what we should do. Make a list of all the blokes in school, and rank them," Calliope said idly. "I don't know, give them a point system, a scale. It'd be funny." She made a face. "But Nearly-Knobless starts in the negatives for turning me down. I'm hot, so either there's something he's not telling us, or he's gay. Which do you think it is?"

"Your loss." Gwendolyn said with a toss o f her head. She laughed and stuck her tongue right back out at Calliope.

"That's be funny." Gwen added with a smirk, leaning back on her arms. "More so if they accidentally found out about it." She smirked and motioned for Calliope to hand over the bottle. "We're very good at distributing news via alternative sources." At her comments on Theodore, Gwen shrugged. "I dunno, what is it with everyone's obsession with being gay, lately? He's probably afraid of girls."

Handing over the bottle, Calliope flopped down on her back. "I suppose the real question is, do muggle loving idiots like Weasley and - shudder - Longbottom count on the list? They're pure, after all. They're just disgusting blood traitors."

Gwen's question hit her someplace she didn't care to be hit: in the belief system. "No one's obsessed with it. It's just gross. Men and women are meant to be together. To make babies! Otherwise what's the point?"

"I dunno, do you think they could be shown the right way?" Gwendolyn asked, making a face at the thought of the Weasleys. "If they're going to be cavorting with mudbloods then there's not much point in wasting our time on them." She shrugged and took a sip.

"Oh honestly, if it were all about that, wouldn't we be praising the Weasleys for giving birth to a hundred children?" Gwen said with a roll of her eyes. "It's about behaviour, decorum, isn't it? About not associating with mudbloods and Muggles." Gwen said with a shrug as she took another sip from the bottle "Anyway, I'm just saying it's gross and there's no point in harping on about it." Gwendolyn added, waiving her hand in the air as if she were dismissing the topic as a whole.

"I doubt it. That's generations of muddled thinking there," Calliope observed. "And no, no one's praising the Weasleys for being little better than rabbits, breeding indiscriminately. As much as people want to continue their lines, you have to take into consideration which lines are worth continuing. That one? Not so much."

She accepted the change of subject for what it was, and changed it. "So tell me," she began conversationally. "Does the stick up Pansy's bum hurt her awfully? Or is that just her personality? You're a lot closer to her than I am."

"No, agreed, but it isn't like the problem's wholly in the blood is it." She rolled her eyes. "I'm sure the grandparents were the proper sort, don't you think? Otherwise how could they possibly have remained pure."

"Oh darling, don't be mean." Gwendolyn said pouting slightly at the mention of Pansy. "She's lovely, she just has an image and a title to protect so she has to be politically correct, you know." Gwen added, rolling her eyes as if to prove her point. "We can go back to rating the boys if you like, though really there are so few worth talking about. It's all rather sad."

"I'm fairly certain the problem's in their dithering, doddering father," Calliope sniped.

"We've all got images and titles to protect, but some of us recognize that we're just in school and that this is the time to make mistakes, so that we can learn from them before they count. I'm cold," she finished, pouting. "I need to go get a blanket or something."

"Er yes. I suppose that hasn't helped." Gwen said, a bit confused at the sudden change. She took another sip from the bottle, quite pleased now that she'd brought more than one.

"Of course we can make mistakes, but that doesn't stop her from having to do a job." Gwen countered then sighed inwardly as Calliope mentioned needing a blanket. Great now they were on the weather. So much for girl time. "It is a bit cold." She paused then and handed over the bottle. "Go on, drink up, and come here. it'll help." Gwen added holding her arm out.
