Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:! ic-ooc, 1998-september, character: andromeda tonks, character: narcissa malfoy

Who: Members of WICCA and any witch who expressed an interest in joining
What: September meeting!
When: Evening of 10 September 1998, staring at 6PM
Where: Kettle & Cup, London
Warnings: None expected.
Status: IC/OOC

This is the IC/OOC thread for the September WICCA meeting.

Kettle & Cup has been rented out to WICCA for the evening. Refreshments are set up on the main counter--wine, butterbeer, tea, lemonade, pumpkin juice, cheese, fruit, goat cheese dip with pita, mango and prawn skewers, fig and bleu cheese skewers, creamy tomato and orange soup, watermelon gazpacho, apple and marzipan tarts, lemon fancies, cranberry and orange scones, and pastries.

The agenda is as follows:

  1. A discussion regarding the future of the DMLE project. As Miss Nott has been apprehended, is there still a need to provide food?
  2. The Fall Concert to benefit WADA. Cambina Bulstrode and Bela Dunstan should have an update on this.
  3. The Holiday Masquerade Ball to benefit St. Mungo's. I will have an update.
  4. The family event to tie in with the Holiday Ball. This will benefit the children's ward at St. Mungo's. Pansy Malfoy and Gwendolyn Montgomery will have an update.
  5. The Winter Festival to benefit the Dirk Cresswell Scholarship. We need someone to take point on this project.
  6. Future projects, including the dinner to benefit the Phyllida Spore Fund.
  7. Outreach to women under 35. Cambina Bulstrode has some thoughts to present on this.
  8. Any other business.

When did you arrive? Who did you talk to? What did you eat?

Narcissa is naturally there early to help set up and is quite relaxed after her trip to Spain. She keeps Munner on hand to help out with anything that's needed this time as he keeps her schedule and she did promise Cambina they would compare schedules tonight to set a time for tea.

By the time other people start to arrive, Narcissa is seated in a comfortable chair that provides her a good view of the room and out the window. She has a glass of wine and a plate with a little bit of most of the foods.

Pansy arrives with Narcissa in order to help. She's...less relaxed.

She saves a seat for Gwen, as per usual.

Andromeda arrived early enough to secure herself a plate- off of which she didn't eat much- and a glass of wine- which she finished.

Dottie arrived early enough to mingle a little before the meeting. She helped herself to a glass of wine, and samples of most of the foods, although she steered away from too many pastries.

Bina arrives early and impeccably dressed. She would have helped Narcissa with anything she needed. (And brought Lyra if Lyra wanted to come ) She would have made polite conversation with everyone there and snacked on goat cheese and sampled the skewers and sipped some wine.

Narcissa greets Cambina warmly. She also mentions that she brought Munner so they can see when they are both free for tea. Munner knows Lucius's schedule as well, of course.

Lyra came with Bina, was polite and upbeat, and drank one or two glasses of wine over the night. She talked to whoever wanted to talk and smiled or said hello to everyone she passed.

DMLE Project
[info]palepanache
2015-09-11 02:22 am UTC (link)
Is there a need to continue this project now that Anastasia Nott has been apprehended? The funds from the garden party were intended to support further efforts on this, but they could be used to replenish what was used from the general fund for this project if no one objects.

Bina would say there's no need for this anymore. And that the DMLE is extremely grateful for all that WICCA has done.

Since the project is no longer necessary, Narcissa moves to put the money from the garden party into the general funds to replace what had already been spent on feeding the DMLE.

She is glad that WICCA could assist in the DMLE's time of need, of course.

Per the group's decision at the last meeting, BIna & Bela have secured a venue and are in talks with WADA to determine the lineup.

They are currently deciding on a theme for the concert and would be opent ot suggestions.

Holiday Ball
[info]palepanache
2015-09-11 02:25 am UTC (link)
We have settled on a masquerade and secured the Events Center at WADA that we've used for a few other events to host the ball. Currently, we're looking for suggestions on musical performers.

Re: Holiday Ball
[info]forgery

Dottie came prepared with a list of possible musical options, including famed performers Celestina Warbeck and Spellbound, which would be at the more expensive end of the spectrum. She also suggested several lesser-known bands, many of which were featured in rising talent sections of the Dailey Prophet in recent times. Most of her suggestions had largely popular new ballads and feature a variety of string instruments so as to provide a more suitable sound fit for a ball rather than a rock concert. She suggested that going with one of the newer bands, such as Sound the Siren or Charming Calypso, would help give them more exposure and keep cost down, especially as many members of these young bands were graduates of WADA and might be willing to cut a better deal for performing at such a prestigious event hosted at their Alma Mater.

(Am I doing this right? I totally made up more than half of that.)

Re: Holiday Ball

Narcissa appreciates the suggestions, though Celestina Warbeck performed at last year's Holiday Ball and therefore isn't who we want this year. As the big draw this year is the masquerade rather than the performer, she likes the idea of some of the rising stars. She will contact the ones Dottie suggested and request that those who are interested come audition for WICCA members.

(Yep! Though... Wasn't Spellbound the name of Neville Longbottom's band in this game? But other than perhaps that confusion, absolutely!)

Dottie was pleased!

(I don't have a clue. I haven't been here long enough to know, and I didn't see that anywhere. Spellbound is listed on the HP Wiki as an all-witch group that has a habit of getting themselves in scandalous situations, as young rockstars are sometimes bound to do. lol.)

Family Event

2015-09-11 10:30 am UTC (link)
Pansy is prepared with a list of several London caterers who offer the type of fair-style food that they want to offer, including projected expenses. She asks for the group's opinion on allowing some wizarding vendors, all family-appropriate of course, to buy booths at the event in order to offset costs and potentially provide more revenue for donation. The list of games and activities on offer has been narrowed down to accommodate the volunteers they have, though she does end on the note that if anyone else wishes to help, it's certainly not too late to join in the planning and preparation.

Narcissa thinks it's a wonderful idea to have appropriate wizarding vendors purchase both space. She mentions Pansy and Gwen should check with the vent to be sure they approve and then they will need to secure proper permits from the Ministry. (She will help with that of its needed.)

Of course she is. (It's a good thing they're in public, because Narcissa is literally not capable of rolling her eyes hard enough to express her true feelings about that.)

Pansy would like to know if there are plans to once again offer the same career counseling session for graduating witches at Hogwarts that were held last year. She thought the experience extremely helpful and it contributed to her desire to be involved with WICCA, and while she's too fresh out of school and not enough established in her own career to volunteer this year, she'd love to see the tradition continue.

Bina is happy to take the floor at this point and proposes open under 35 meetings every month. These would be loose social events - a chance for wicca members to vet/recruit new people but also show them what WICCA is like. Cocktail nights, gallery trips, etc.
