Who: William Rosier & Cambina Bulstrode
What: Flying at the Ministry Party
Where: Quidditch stadium
When: Friday, 28 August
Rating: G/PG!
Status: Completed log

The pitch was really where most of the charming and schmoozing happened, so when Will and Bina made their way up to the boxes, Will seemed to lose a touch of polite party charm and replace it with a more impish variety. People were more focused on seeing all the decor and enjoying the displays up here, so as far as Will was concerned this was the more date-like aspect of the party that he could enjoy.

As they walked through the Magical Sports level, Will casually popped a caramel-flavoured bertie bott's bean into his mouth as he looked around. "I think this level has the best views for quidditch, fitting. So what are we going to try? I heard rumours down on the pitch about a coffee display on your floor..." Cue a shameless teasing smirk.

It was here that Bina could relax a little and settle into the comfortable familiarity she had with William. She rolled her eyes and elbowed him playfully. "Considering MG's actually sampled our coffee, I wouldn't put it past him to do something like that."

She glanced around the box and spotted the employees with brooms, allowing people to take a flight around the stadium and the corner of her lips twitched upwards. "I think we ought to take a spin around the stadium from the air is what," she said with a grin.

Will smirked at the elbow he got and turned his attention back to the set up on the magical sports level. Well at least the Ministry put effort in their parties. He did notice the various brooms and quaffles set out, and almost rolled his eyes when Bina put for the expected suggestion. Instead he raised an eyebrow at her, looking skeptical but quite amused. "Oh? Ought we to now?"

"What? Afraid to demonstrate your flying skills in public?" she teased. "Or just worried that your girlfriend is going to fly circles around you?" She punctuated her words with a playful bump of his hip.

"Goading me now, Miss Bulstrode?" Will grinned back, encouraged by her playful mood though not convinced. Girlfriend didn't even register as odd anymore since it had come up enough times tonight and he didn't care, labels could be whatever they wanted. "I have no qualms with saying that I don't have any particular flying skill and that yes, my girlfriend will no doubt fly many circles around me. Even in a party dress robes, though I don't know how you're going to manage on a broom with that." And him all suited up too, what was the appeal exactly?

"I've found that goading you can be very effective," Bina grinned, running her hands over his lapels. Girlfriend and boyfriend seemed inadequate terms and though she'd agreed to use them tonight, in her head it was husband, like when she teased him. It was becoming all too easy to think of Will in those terms. "Oh, so you don't think I can fly in this?" she asked, taking a step back and indicating the tasteful, yet flattering dress robes Selwyn had made her for this occasions. Of course, there were charms to keep the fabric where it needed to be, but Will didn't need to know that. "Well, I'd be more than happy to demonstrate, Mister Rosier, but it'd be much more fun if you accompanied me. If you want, you can ride behind me and I'll do all the broom handling."

"Yes, but you're usually goading me about more entertaining things," Will pointed out with a smile as he watched her hands run down his lapels. It was interesting, having these gestures and moments in public, odd, but not difficult to get used to. They were selling it, that's what he told himself. And when she stepped back, Will glanced around before shooting her a wink and that impish suggestive grin at the showcase of what she was wearing. It was fun to sneak in moments of their more usual selves in here.

"I think you probably can, and while I normally do love to leave all handling in your capable fingers, I don't see why you need me behind. What's my incentive to come fly the skies tonight, Miss Bulstrode? Certainly can't expect a suited up wizard to mess everything up for a flyabout and the lady to be handling the wrong broom handle," Will teased.

Bina closed the distance between them and dropped her voice. "Because I'll make it up to you later if you indulge me and come out flying. Or you can be a scaredy cat and stay here worrying more about your robes than having a good time. I'm sure I can find someone else to take a spin around the pitch with me."

Will almost laughed, but ducked his head slightly so he could whisper back. "Scaredy cat only works with the Gryffindor type I'm afraid, but I'll indulge the lady. Separate brooms though, might as well get to really let you fly circles around me."

Bina grinned as she brushed her lips against his cheek and slipped her hand through his, leading him toward the broom. "Your choice tomorrow night," she whispered into his ear, knowing Will would understand what she meant. "Afraid to let me handle your broom?"

Tilting his head her way to hear the whispered promise, Will couldn't help the slow smirk on his face. Yes, this was a good part of why he was agreeing to this. He had no issues with heights or brooms, he was decent on one, he just had no real interest for it. "I let you handle my broom regularly," he whispered back. "I just think I'll prefer the view in this case from another broom."

"Suit yourself," Bina said with a shrug as she sauntered over to the brooms, running her hand over the various ones. Finding a new Comet model her face lit up as she ran her hands over it caressing. "Oh yes, you'll do rather nicely."

Despite her dress robes being form fitting and ending above the knee, Bina mounted the broom gracefully, making it look easy as as she settled herself, not a hair or fold of fabric was out of place. She made it look effortless. She guided the broom out of the box and pulled a lazy somersault, getting a feel for this one. "Come on Rosier. Show me what you've got."

Will let her lead and didn't pull his hand away from hers as she looked over the brooms. He'd gone to enough broom shops with his brother, who really liked the whole thing, so he knew the brands and a few of the specs, but he only retained that because the kid cared. Will really found them all the same.

Letting her go and watching Bina mount the broom with ease, Will smiled at her smooth and effortless expertise, only finally turning to pick a broom for himself after she'd flown into the stadium. The sports employee pointed out the new models and Will nodded along almost absent mindedly but ended up picking the new Nimbus model that had come out a month ago entirely because it was his brother's favourite and the kid would be distraught to know Will passed up that opportunity.

Will flew out to join her a short moment later, looking rather relaxed in posture (you always had to look in control as far as he was concerned) though he wasn't doing any fancy moves. "I've got far more in other areas, as you know," he shot back as he flew towards her and adjusted his tie with one hand. "Never flew with dress robes on before, I see why they avoid it though. Alright Miss Bulstrode, are you going to show me up here or do I need to give you a more obvious opportunity?"

"Oh come now," Bina said, pulling up so she was flying above him. Her hair fell down, but her dress seemed to stay in place. "You're not making it much of a challenge."

Nonetheless, she veered off into a barrel roll before diving towards the pitch.

Will smirked up as she flew over him, reaching out with one hand to playfully swat at her hair as she flew over him. "Well I hardly-"

He didn't get to finish the sentence before she surprised him by diving into a barrel roll straight at the pitch.

Of course, how Bina. What did he really expect? Smiling and shaking his head, Will flew ahead to fly along the edge of the stands, swooping high and low and he picked up some speed so that when she pulled out of her reckless dive he could at least keep up. Really the Nimbus's speed was doing most of the work for him.

She pulled out of the dive in plenty of time and set off in a series of climbing loops as she made her way back towards her. When she'd been at Hogwarts, girls didn't play quidditch for Slytherin and there was a part of Bina that had always resented it. She'd contended herself with flying around the manor, the opportunity providing her an escape from her parents. She took her hands off the broom and leaned back, enjoying the feeling of just being in the air on a fast broom.

What Will hadn't expected out of her was that look on her face, she looked oddly relaxed and...free. He wasn't sure he'd ever seen that expression on her before and wondered what it was about flying that brought it on. Will didn't interrupt right away, letting her have that moment of peace, until he finally flew by with a teasing grin, coming very close to her broom. "Aiming for a few heart attacks tonight, Miss Bulstrode?"

Her hand reached out for him and she laughed. "I didn't think you were so faint of heart, Mister Rosier. Don't tell me you were worried?" She brought her broom closer to his, knowing she could stabilise him if needed / if he lost control.

Will caught her hand and ended up spinning the both of them around with his momentum before he managed to slow to a hover. "More worried for the poor sods below," he grinned back. "Flying really is your thing, isn't it? Well now I see why you invited me up here. Show off."

Bina shrugged. "Well, I am tempted to sign up to be a broom tester every so often." She enjoyed being in the air, much more so than being on the ground and even moreso when there was the thrill of the chase or obstacles to avoid. There was a reason a dragon dominated her back along with bird tattoos, Bina had always longed for the sky. She wrapped an arm around him and pulled him into a double barrel roll.

Will didn't have much of an opportunity to respond before she was pulling him in and sending them both into a double barrel roll. Great, he really hadn't signed up for this. Will found his grip on her and his own broom handle tightening as they rolled, releasing her once it was through and shaking his head at her with a smirk. "Merlin, my brother is going to love you. Little warning next time, Miss Bulstrode? I do realize you rarely get a chance to fluster me and you're having fun with it. Come on, want to chase me around the stadium while simultaneously trying to fly circles around me? Can't give you the win unless you make it official."

Her hand settled on his hip possesively and she brushed her lips against his cheek. "Warning would ruin all the fun," she explained as she dropped down so she was flying underneath him. "Alright, give it your best shot."

"Wouldn't it just. I will certainly try to deliver," Will grinned and winked down at her before urging his broom forward. The new nimbus had very smooth acceleration, he had to appreciate that, and it seemed to take little effort to get it really going. Zooming around the stadium Will made sure to leave some space between him and the boxes so she could loop around him or come up on that side. He wasn't going slow by any means, this was actually much faster than his usual, but she seemed to enjoy this sort of thing and he was indulging her. "Come on Bulstrode, I want to see how you're going to try and put me to shame," Will smirked over his shoulder for a moment, well aware that she would easily show him up here. He just didn't care, broom skill really meant nothing in the grand scheme of things and nobody was really paying much attention. There were a few other fliers flitting about but other than that everyone had their own thing going at this party.

It wasn't that much of a challenge, but it was enough to keep her entertained. She swooped underneath William before looping around him a few times. "I could do this with my hands tied behind my back."

She spun so she was flying upside down near him. "I thought you knew how to handle a broom?"

"Darling I know how to handle my own broom," Will winked before suddenly banking and taking a sharper turn to cut corners and head to the other side of the stadium. Fully expecting she was hot on his tail, Will kept talking. "Now I would offer to tie your hands but I haven't yet earned that with my flying I don't think, apparently have to make it worth your while."

"Well as long as you don't spend too much time polishing your own broom. Others like to help, you know," she teased, banking after him. She set the speed on her broom before hooking her legs and hanging off by her knees. "I do like to push you hard."

"On principle I feel like if the lady is offering to help I should let her," Will grinned back before rolling his eyes a little at her showmanship and doing a half loop to change direction and get away. "I think you just like me hard is what it is."

Bina put one hand on the broom and followed after him without bothering to put herself right side up. "I like you in many different ways. Maybe I just think I can handle your broom better than you."

"You probably can and, more to the point, I prefer your handling of my broom." Will's broom climbed higher so that now they were circling the top levels of the stadium, way above the other fliers and the guests below.

Bina spiraled around him as they climbed, her hair blowing out behind her and a look of easy contentment on her face. "Well, I'll be more than happy to service your broom later, darling, to make sure it receives proper care."

"After the party. That and tomorrow night, I can certainly make sure my broom is available for you." Up here Will liked it a bit better, it was farther from everything and everybody, nobody could really see as well. Normally he'd like to go land soon, but he doubted she was ready to just yet.

"Obviously not here." Although giving Will a handjob on a broom would be entertaining but only if she was able to take proper precautions. She certainly didn't want him to fall off. Making sure they wouldn't be overheard, she brought her broom in closer to WIll's and ran a hand over his leg. "I invited Lyra over afterwards to help her undress, but I don't having you there would matter. What was she whispering in your ear about?"

"Wouldn't matter hm? Flattering," Will teased, though he didn't actually care. As she flew close he turned his head to follow her, curious about what she wanted. "What? Oh, that? Nonsense threats, nothing so interesting I'm afraid," Will shrugged at Bina. The threats had been amusing at best to him and he'd almost forgotten about them until she mentioned them just now.

"Threats?" Bina raised an eyebrow. "It is flattering because it means you're on the list of people who can always join us."

"Well what passes for threats I suppose," Will shrugged again, clearly not concerned. Though he wondered if Lyra was in full agreement on the open invite, Bina had said things were significant and Lyra seemed a bit attached. Who knew, he apparently had to look into it later. "Well I will take you up on the invite tonight, Miss Bulstrode. But I'm collecting on your promise for tomorrow night separately."

"Saturdays are yours. Although part of me things I may just spend all tomorrow in bed though," Bina said with a smirk. She had a feeling this party would go late and a night with Lyra and Will might wear her out if things go well. "We should do this more often."

"A day in bed doesn't sound bad," Will agreed, watching the tiny partying people below before glancing back up. "What part?" As evidenced tonight, he could fly, but he'd still need incentive. It wasn't a joyous hobby for him like it was for her.

"Flying together," Bina explained. "At the manor or along the coast.." She leant back on her broom, her natural flexibility evident as she spread her arms wide and enjoying the feeling. "We do the rest - dancing, mingling, etc - on a regular basis with all the societal expectations."

Will smiled back as she leaned back and spread her arms out, but he was smiling just to smile. The flying idea didn't particularly appeal to him if he was honest. The stuff out in public where people could see had purpose, this would just be the two of them with nobody in sight. "We can combine it with a visit to your manor for dinner, go flying before or after." At least that way it'd have some use and he'd have some personal incentive to go flying. If he was going to do something for the hell of it he usually had to enjoy it, flying he didn't care enough for, though it certainly seemed to work for her. Well maybe flying with her was a good way to get closer, it was a good sign that she wanted to do these things for fun after all. "I'm sure we can find more non-societal stuff to do on top of that."

Bina managed not to make a face. Her relationship with her father was weird now that he was so enamoured of William, it almost made her jealous. Not that she would ever admit that. "Mmmm.. and what sorts of non-societal stuff do you want to add to our calendar, Mister Rosier?"

"Perhaps I'll surprise you with one, Miss Bulstrode," Will teased and leaned over to kiss her cheek quickly before he pushed his broom to half a dive to head back down. Truth was he didn't actually have many ideas about things that were entirely non-societal. He didn't date, he didn't do these things for fun, the point was to be seen and noticed. What was the point if there was nobody to see, no ulterior motive to fill other than to make the woman like him more? Will was a bit stuck on what he could think up, but it seemed like he'd have to find a few alternatives.

Bina was about to comment on surprises when Will died off. She spun into a barrel roll before plummeting down at breakneck speed to catch up with him and pass him. There were few things better than flying for her and it showed in the way she handled herself on a broom - carefree and easy. She pulled into an abrupt stop a few yards in front of Will, her chest heaving from the rush and enjoyment. "I could stay out here all night, but I imagine we still have rounds to make. And coffee to sample."

Will grinned at seeing her seem so exhilarated, pulling up and turning around to where he recalled they'd flown off from at the beginning. "Coffee to sample for sure, I want to see the rest of these levels they've set up. Though a fly around for the view wasn't bad," he added as he looked up at the stadium, the view was different in the air, and he could see the thrill of being on the big stage it'd give quidditchers. Even Will who was far from a quidditcher quite liked the feeling a view like this gave.

"Well, cheers for indulging me," Bina said as she gracefully landed her broom and dismounted, running her fingers over her curls to put them back in place. She unnecessarily smoothed her hands over the black silk she was wearing as a matter of habit. "I do promise to make it up to you. So, should we hit your department or just see what's down the line?"

"I usually find it's good practice to indulge the lady at times," Will winked after he landed and fixed his own hair and robes. Once done, a nod and brief thank you to the employee manning the broom booth as he handed back the nimbus and Will watched her fix her hair, glad to see it righted. "Looks great, I actually quite like your hair like that, it suits you," he added as he offered her his arm. "Let's see what's next down the line, we'll hit them all up this way."

Bina took his arm with a smile and squeezed it fondly, making note of his preference about her hair. She didn't mind wearing it like this, but to her it was the old lady look (or at least, impress the old ladies). But for some idiotic reason, she cared about Will's likes and dislikes and his preferences. And she could certainly where her hair in a more classic style when they were out together. "Sounds like an excellent plan for our eventual world domination," she teased in a conspiratorial whisper.

"One level at a time?" Will whispered back as they left the broom box. "Actually I think yours should be up if they're going by floors with this one as the exception..." He grinned over at her. "Appropriate, don't you think?"

"You just want to see if they actually have coffee," Bina teased with a smirk, saving her comments about domination for later.

"You did say you knew the head of sports, I'm just curious if he's the type who's actually going to take the piss like this," Will shrugged innocently.

"I'll put money on it that he followed through with it," Bina said with an eyeroll. "It's the sort of thing he would do."
