WHO. Angelina Johnson & George Weasley
WHEN. 3 February 2002 | Less than an hour after this
WHERE. The Weasley Twins' flat [Diagon Alley]
SUMMARY. Angelina decided to pay the twins an unexpected visit to celebrate her decision to leave The 'Griff. When she arrives she finds George in quite a horrible state...
RATING/STATUS. PG-ish for potential probable profanity/COMPLETED
The past few weeks' events had been an emotional rollercoaster to say the very least. Angelina was struggling with balancing her personal life with work, which proved in and of itself a difficult affair because it was far more easy to volunteer for overtime than face a friend you were mad at. There was only so much extra she could do at Marchbank's in a day, though she lingered after hours despite that on unpaid time helping out newer employees with tying up loose ends from the workday.
The Merry Hippogriff, of course, had extended her probation for dousing one of their patrons in booze when she'd finally gotten spent with his uncalled for commentary, so Angie couldn't count on picking up shifts with there until the one-month mark of her transgression had been reached. That was the price she had to pay for doing what nearly everyone in the pub had been holding out hope someone would do anyway. Martyrdom at its finest if you were to ask her. And maybe it was the way her workweek dragged on with only one job, maybe it was just her irritation at the limbo she was in. Whatever the occasion, Angelina had reached her limit and decided that, come the day she was meant to start back up at The 'Griff, she was going to do a no-call, no-show for good measure. What better way to punish the powers that be than to leave them short-staffed at the last minute? Perhaps it wasn't the most mature way to go out, but she didn't exactly feel she'd been treated fairly either. That aside, she had a brilliant reference with Miss Marchbank's and therefore could hopefully mask over whatever poor reference The 'Griff would attempt to give her.
To celebrate the freedom that came with finally making up her mind, Angelina had decided to pay the twins a visit. She'd been filling Fred in on the woes of her time at The 'Griff for weeks now, mostly because she didn't feel it was appropriate to trouble George when he had enough on his plate at that point in time. Still even George knew that Angelina was on the verge of quitting, and he'd even mentioned maybe helping her go out in style, so surely he'd be happy to hear the good news as well?
Apparating just outside their flat, Angelina was about to knock on the door when she thought the better of it. How much better would it be to just pop in unexpected and abruptly deliver the verdict?! Taking in a big breath, she flung the door open with her free hand (the other wrapped around the neck of an unopened bottle of patrón). "It's official! Come February 9th I'm a girl with only one job!" It just figured. No one was there to hear her.
Or... wait a minute. Just after shutting the front door, only seconds before turning into Fred's bedroom to see if the twins were hiding out in there, Angelina paused in her tracks. She heard what sounded like a whimper, no... was it crying, from just behind her. Turning to look over her shoulder, her fears were confirmed. She immediately dropped her messenger bag on the floor, with the alcohol set haphazardly on top, and hurried toward the heap in front of the cupboards. Without seeing his face she knew exactly who it was.
"Oh my God. George. George, it's okay." Crumpling over beside him, Angelina wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged her mate close. She had no idea at this point if he'd finally broken down for good over Alicia or if she missed something, but at that given moment in time didn't need to know. Right now all she needed to do was let him know he wasn't alone and that she wasn't going anywhere.
