"It said 'dress up as something'," Evan told Mary-Anne with a frown. "What does that mean if not costume?" Because it hadn't said 'dress up', which Evan could've perhaps argued could just mean dress nice. But the implication that this was a costume party was rather clear. And Evan didn't have a costume. Or even an idea for a costume. And the party was hours away. This was not going well at all. Casting another cleaning spell over himself, Evan made all the paint go away, before getting his shirt. Slipping it on, he scrunched his nose up at Mary-Anne. Evan didn't think her clothes fit the category of 'something form the past' if she was going to go as Mary-Anne in old fashioned clothes, but Evan didn't actually voice that.
Evan did nod in agreement when Mary-Anne told him that she had had much less trouble with her Halloween costume. "Me too," Evan commented. "I think 'dress scary' is a much easier category to fill," he admitted, though, Evan didn't think many people had bothered much with the scary part. Andrew had dressed as a merman, which Evan didn't find very scary unless you had a fish allergy. "I need to go home," he decided suddenly. Perhaps home would... something. Have something more inspirational than red paint.
