"Right," Hermione nodded at the explanation and then gave another nod when Malfoy assured her that the vet they were in line to see was pretty decent. Well, yes, Hermione would have assumed as much. Then again, she did assume anyone in whatever profession they did should be decent at it. The lack of anything else Malfoy offered in terms of conversation, made Hermione wonder whether he just really didn't want to talk to her. Sure, they weren't friends. That hardly meant that they couldn't talk. Or perhaps, Malfoy was just terrible at social interactions. Hermione would believe that from what she recalled from school.
Leaning down to check on Crookshanks, Hermione deemed him still well enough not to demand to see the vet early. Looking back at Malfoy, Hermione raised her eyebrow at him. "Are kids really nicer than adults?" She asked somewhat dubious of his claim. Of course, Hermione didn't have a great deal of experience with kids, but she did have plenty of experience with adults. "Or is it that you aren't very good with adults?" Truthfully, Hermione struggled to imagine him very good with kids either. But perhaps, he was generally just worse with adults. This conversation was doing little to indicate otherwise. "Any good with animals?" Hermione asked but that, at least, was mostly a joke.
