Toby wasn't sure how to feel about the fact that Laurel may have wanted to get away from their parents. While he felt that it was probably a good idea on the basis of how they'd disowned two of their children alone, he knew that it likely wasn't an easy decision for Laurel to make to just up and leave the life she'd grown accustomed to. It hadn't been easy for him and it hadn't been easy for Axel either. Laurel was the youngest and to say that she'd have it any easier than either of them had would just be lying. Regardless, Toby intended to be there for his sister no matter what decision she ended up making.
Once he got to the Panquake house, he let Ric mingle while he went to look for Laurel. He would introduce them, of course, but he thought that it might be best if he approached her alone to begin with and eased her into the whole situation without overwhelming her with first meetings. Besides, Axel had mentioned that Laurel should speak with him and he wanted to give her the opportunity to do so without an audience.
He found Laurel in the living room, writing in her notebook curled in the corner in a chair and he cleared his throat from a distance so as not to startle her too much.
