Gilderoy basked in the praise, absorbing each piece of it as if he hadn't heard it all a dozen times before. No matter how oft-repeated, Gilderoy did love being celebrated. A kind word from a fan wasn't quite on the same level as his name in the headlines, but it was only a matter of degree - the feeling was very much the same. "That's the aim, of course," he said. "To give people the thrill without exposing them to the danger. Photographs help, but they don't reach people in the same way. There's a power in words to make people stop and take notice."

Lydia's smile was quite charming as she talked about her travels. Not, of course, as charming as Gilderoy's own award-winning grin, but perfectly respectable. "Well, you know," he said, once again leaning closer and lowering his voice. "I've been to most places by now, so if you need any recommendations before your next holiday, I'd be happy to provide. It isn't all jungles and campfires. I like to end trips with a few days in civilisation."
