Evan tended to be rather indecisive about whether he liked coffee shops. Unlike a lot of other people's uni work, Evan could never really do much of his in cafes, since it required drawing tables and so such. But he did go through phases of liking to read in coffee shops. Or maybe it was phases of liking coffee. Today's choice was an elaborate chocolatey thing with two types of coffee bean and a type of milk Evan had never heard of before. It was pleasant. The book he was reading was also pleasant, so that helped. Whether it helped the coffee or the book, Evan wasn't sure though.
Books often tended to block out all other things around Evan, which is perhaps why it took him almost a whole mug of coffee before he looked up and realised that he was sat almost directly opposite of Padma. Evan knew Padma, she had been couple of years above him in Ravenclaw, which, to be fair, mostly meant that he knew her name, rather than much else. Still, it wasn't like he had intentionally decided to be rude or anything, he just honestly hadn't spotted her before. So when Evan did, he gave her a small nod. Offering a 'hey' in terms of a greeting and then realising that he wasn't actually sure what else to say. "Did you know that rhinos have to drink once a day so they stay within 5 kilometres of water? Sometimes, if it's really dry they can dig for water with their forefeet." That'd have to do.
