Most of the time, when it was Padma's day off, she was perfectly content to stay locked up in her flat by herself, only stepping out briefly to remind herself that other humans existed and that she hadn't accidentally been the sole survivor of some plague or something. But there were days when she felt a bit smothered by her walls and the familiar space and she just needed to get out for a little while, to breathe real air and change her scenery a bit.
She'd arrived shortly after Evan and it was pure luck that the only table left was right by his. She picked her seat at random and dumped her bag on the other. This contained notebooks for work and books for reading and pens and quills and potions for her own use and snacks and was basically all the comforts of home that she could carry around with her when she left.
She curled into her chair, spreading a notebook in front of her as she pulled apart a large cookie and waited for her tea to cool. The notebook was for work and the page she was on was filled with a complex recipe she'd copied from a book and intended on memorizing. She was in the process of scribbling notes on the third step in the process when she heard a voice.
Glancing up, she saw Evan. She knew he was Harry's brother and that they had been in the same House together, but that was about it. "Hi," she replied and then glanced back down at her book. For her, that could have been quite enough conversing, but Evan kept talking. Normally, being interrupted like this would annoy her, but what he said was interesting.
She looked up again and lay her quill down. "Really?" She sat up straighter and folded her hands on the table. "I guess that makes sense, though. I can't imagine they move very fast and water probably isn't very plentiful in their habitat. I just never thought about it."
