Laurel's hand hovered in space for a second after Bethanie grabbed the bill. She let it settle back on the table, ready to reach again. "Maybe it is just a place," she replied with a shrug, "I guess that's up to how you feel, and I don't think there's a wrong way to feel about it." She ran the fingernail of her index finger along a groove in the table as Bethanie went on. "That's a great idea!" She said brightly. "Someplace you've never been before, maybe? Or would it be better to go somewhere familiar?"
Her eyes fell back to the bill and she shook her head. "That's really very nice of you, but I'm happy to pay my half."
