Who: Ashleigh Spinnet and Axel King.
What: Not being at work is boring, so Ashleigh invites Axel over.
When: 4ish, Monday 6th June.
Where: Ashleigh's flat.
Rating: PG.
Ashleigh had really intended to go straight back to sleep after sending her owls into work. She hadn't slept enough, and she knew she needed to make up the deficit if she was going to manage with the rest of the week. Sadly, it hadn't been so easy. She'd sat in her pyjamas on the couch until Roger replied, just in case there was a problem, something he couldn't deal with. There hadn't been, but by the time he replied, it was too late for Ashleigh to risk the six-hour sleeping potion she'd requested. She didn't want to be asleep until half three. She just needed a small nap, and then to be ready if anything went so badly wrong that she had to get involved to fix it.
The small nap didn't come as easily as she'd hoped. She was tired, but apparently not quite tired enough, even with a calming draught to keep her level. By four in the afternoon, she'd read the Daily Prophet from cover to cover, solved the crossword, finished a book about the construction of Ancient Roman amphitheatres and updated her list of potential birthday presents for Alicia. What she hadn't done was eat. Roger's cupcake sat with his note on the kitchen counter. After running out of items on her to-do list (which she kept as short as humanly possible at all times), she was at a loss. She didn't want to go out - she'd told her boss she was suffering a migraine, and being caught out and about would do nothing for her credibility. It was too early to owl Aisling - who would want to know why Ashleigh wasn't at work.
Axel, though. Axel wouldn't notice what time it was, Ashleigh was fairly certain. She owled him at home, inviting him to come over whenever he was free for the evening. After confirming that her wards were set to let him - and only him - in, she quickly showered and got dressed in something more substantial than pyjamas. She was drying her hair with a charm when she heard the pop of apparition and stood, taking a single deep breath before pushing her bedroom door open. Irrational as it was, it was a relief to see Axel standing in her living room and not some intruder. "Hi," she said. "You weren't busy, then?"
