"Yeah," she responded, knowing he knew the answer already. Of course it would be beneficial in the long run. Even if, for some reason, this didn't work out between them, then the only way she was going to survive it was if she could become self-reliant; even if it did work out, the only way they could be together and stay together, was if she worked on herself and get healthy. Alicia knew and understood that, and she was willing to do whatever it took to be with him.
Terence talking about the kitten, and the dogs was a nice distraction from her thoughts, though. She loved to hear him talk about them because of his enthusiasm for animals. He loved them so much, everything about them, and it was rather infectious. However, his suggestion that she get a pet as well...that soured her mood a little. All she could think about was Elspeth, and her guilt.
"I don't...have the best track record with pets," she replied slowly, not looking at him. "I'm not sure it's a good idea." Nevermind that sometimes she couldn't even get herself out of bed, let alone be responsible for another life.
