Aisling didn't think Andrew should phone his mum at all, but she also did realise that this was not an advice she could or even should give Andrew. It wasn't that she didn't understand why he wanted to phone her, he was, after all, going out of the country and presumably that was the sort of thing kids told their parents about. Aisling just worried that perhaps talking to his mum would upset Andrew, it often seemed to do. For all the things that Aisling was or was not, she was incredibly protective when it came to Andrew. But not quite enough to deny him calling his mother.
"Sure," Aisling said instead of saying any of the things she had been thinking about. Reaching into her bag, Aisling located the mobile phone before handing it over to Andrew. "Do you--" She paused offering him a small shrug as she glanced to the door. "Do you want me to wait outside?" Aisling offered. It seemed like the most polite thing to do but Aisling wasn't sure if that was what Andrew wanted her to do.
