Hi! There have been a few questions about the ale plot on 29 July, so we wanted to put this together to clear a few things up. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to drop them here!
Definitely. Anyone--even OCs--may be affected by the ale.
However you want. You can have them dream about the moments of their deaths or about events that happened differently in canon than they did in the AU history.
That depends on the OC. One that could have been around during canon!verse (e.g. the Diggory or Wood siblings) may have canon memories, even though they aren't canon characters. An original character that only exists in the AU!verse (e.g. the Potter Twins, Primrose, Mary-Anne) would dream of nothing and be acutely aware of it.
A solid color and no sound. An empty room with no doors. A long hallway with no windows. A staircase that goes on forever but has no landings. A sense of waiting, of floating without a life vest. It's wherever your imagination goes. Nothing is infinite and can manifest differently for each character.
Absolutely not. You can pick a different canon!verse memory, a happy one, as long as it played out differently than what happened in the AU history. (e.g. Fred and/or George could dream about setting off the fireworks during the NEWTs/OWLS and flying out of the castle on the brooms they stole back from Umbridge.)
They will fall asleep when they get home Friday night and dream from the time they sleep to the time they wake up on Saturday. From Saturday into Sunday, characters won't know that they're awake; they'll spend the day thinking that their real life is the dream. On Sunday 31 July, everyone who was affected will wake up knowing they're in the real world. They won't remember all of the details of their dreams, but they will remember the feelings of them.
That's up to you. They may last only a couple of days before fading into a vague memory and sense of deja vu. They may last a couple of weeks. How your character is affected is entirely up to you.
