Marking the official end of the holiday season, New Year's Day is sometimes known as 'National Hangover Day' and for some "lucky" souls, they are especially feeling the after effects of a night well spent. [Eddie Carmichael] wakes up in a bed which is also occupied by [Hermione Granger], unfortunately neither one is the bed's owner. [Oliver Wood] wakes up early, ready to get a start on his/her resolutions, only to find him/herself being followed by a stray dog that Will. Not. Leave. Him/Her. Alone.
The Hogwarts Express leaves Platform 9 and 3/4 precisely at 11:00 A.M. sharp. No exceptions. Despite the fact that this has been the case for generations, King's Cross still manages to be a madhouse. [Bethanie Dunstan] wasn't even supposed to be there, but his/her boss' child forgot something that just could not be owled after the fact. The things we do to keep our jobs. [Character 5] not only has to deal with saying goodbye, but also find a toad that seemingly escaped into the crowd. Good luck.
The second half of the school year begins with a bang. Literally, as someone saw fit to give Peeves a grab bag filled with pranks and other goodies from Zonko's and Weasley Wizarding Wheezes, probably in the hopes of getting on the poltergeist's good side. [Character 6] has soup splashed all over him/her when a wet start firework is dropped into his/her bowl. Staff and Students aren't the only victims of Peeves' antics. The poltergeist has the house elves in such a tizzy, [Character 7], [Character 8], [Remus Lupin], and [Character 10] all get another person's belongings delivered to their private chambers/dorms.
The Merry Hippogriff in Godric's Hollowis known for it's wide drink selection and increasingly their delectable menu. Unfortunately for the owners and workers at the pub, at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday the refrigeration and preservation charms begin to fail, right before the evening rush. The repairman says he cannot make it until Monday. So what is a pub to do? Have a party of course! Half-price drinks and appetizers all night long. [Angelina Johnson] says something less than flattering, which results in a drink getting thrown in his/her face. [Ken Chambers] and [Jessica Moran] engage in a drinking contest, but only one can be declared the victor.
After months of negotiating with the Office of the Minister for a better contract, the Union for Magical Maintenance Workers, Chapter 1313, has declared a strike from the stroke of midnight on Friday all the way through to 8:00 am Monday morning. They are sick and tired of the low wages and lack of respect their Office receives. Any request sent to Magical Maintenance will be refused. Unfortunately for the rest of the Ministry, Murphy's Law rings true: everything that could go wrong does today. [Regulus Black], [James Potter], and [Caradoc Dearborn] get stuck in a lift. [Character 17]'s magical window gets stuck with a view of one of London's many Tube tunnels. Complete with trains barrelling right at the office occupants approximately every 15 minutes.
At exactly 4:32 P.M. the fire alarm at St. Mungo's goes off, necessitating the emtpying of the entire hospital. Note, this is not a drill. [Charlie Weasley] ends up more injured than when he/she came in, thanks to a pushy fellow patron who doesn't even bother to apologize. Rude. [Melinda Bobbin] ends up with a chill after an over-enthusiastic patient tries to safeguard the ward from fire with a wall of ice. It is later discovered that the fire alarm was set off as a result of two healers in training smoking in a broom closet.
It is that time of year again when old Board memebers leave and new ones come on to take their place. Available this year are four seats, including one reserved for a staff representative. All that is required to be a member of the Board of Governors is to be a parent or guardian of current or soon to be Hogwarts student and be in good standing in the greater magical community. [Character 20], [Character 21], [Character 22], and [Aurora Sinistra] are elected to the Board. Up for discussion this month: Internships for Seventh Year NEWT students.
Oh the monthly Hogsmeade visit where students third year and above are able to escape the castle and run amok in the small wizarding village, filling their pockets full of jokes and candy to last them until the next Hogsmeasd Saturday or the next care package. Whichever comes first. While many have learned to stay away from Hogsmeade on the third Saturday of the month whe Hogwarts is in session, sometimes it is unavoidable. Tracey Davis gets caught in a interhouse snowball fight between fourth years. Daphne Greengrass breaks their wand when they slip on a patch of ice, and has to rely on [Character 26] for help.
Once again the Wold Cup is coming back to England. The preliminary matches have all been played and it is now down to the top sixteen teams in the world (in no particular order): Ireland, Scotland, Bulgaria, France, Canada, South Korea, Germany, New Zealand, Kenya, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, the Phillippines, Cameroon, India, and Ukraine. Expect to see an article in the Daily Prophet with the schedule for all the matches and the line up for the first round of games. Tickets go on sale February 1st, except [Character 27] is so excited and tries to bribe the ticket office into letting him/her have an early bird discount.

Below is a table with ten different prompts to inspire threads/logs or narratives that take place in the past. It could be from when your character was a child or while in Hogwarts or last month. All that matters is that it does not take place prior to the game starting.
Please link each thread/log (with at least two comments per player, including the starter) or narrative (at least 200 words) in the table and appropriately it with the !CHALLENGE tag. You may combine this with the BINGO card challenges. If you answer another person's open thread you may also count this towards your own table.
