REPORT: MOTHER AND DAUGHTER RESCUED - BUT AT WHAT PRICE?

Reports are circling today that Andromeda and Nymphadora Tonks, the mother and daughter who were kidnapped by Bellatrix Lestrange from Diagon Alley nearly two weeks ago, have been returned - and Amycus and Alecto Carrow, the brother and sister Death Eater duo who were recently found guilty of the murder of Greta Gamp, were the price the Ministry paid for their safe release.

Ministry officials have remained mum on the topic, but a member of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement wasn't quite as enthusiastic about the rumoured safe return as one might expect. "It's an abomination, a perversion of justice, to let those criminals--those terrorists go free, ready, willing, and able to kill again. While two lives would've been lost, who knows how many countless others we've just sentenced to death by letting those two murderers free?"

Not all were so harsh of the Ministry's decision, however. One witch from the Auror Department itself had this to say: "It's our job to protect the innocent against the likes of Lestrange and the Carrows, no matter what it takes. By doing what needed to be done in order to ensure the safe return of the hostages, we saved a family from being destroyed. However, the Ministry now has a duty to hunt down the fugitives and to find them once more, and it will be done."

No other comments were available. But this whole mishap begs the question: is the Ministry really doing all it can to keep us safe? And what is more helpful to the Wizarding Community in the long run--saving two lives and keeping a family together in the here and now, or preventing potentially hundreds of others from being slaughtered by the two fugitives they've reportedly set free?
