[The camera focuses on the young future starlet, but she isn't quite ready for it. She adjusts her posture to straighten it up, pushing her hair over her shoulder and placing a bright smile on her face. She nods, indicating that she is ready, then looks straight at the camera with confidence. It's obvious that she's prepared quite a bit for this interview.]
Hello, reality television audience. It has been a few days since we all arrived in the house, so I'm doing my best to gain my bearings. If there is anything that my extensive studying of reality television and pop culture have taught me, it is that knowing one's competitors is the first step to victory.
I'm learning all that I can about the other people in the house, both those on my team and also those on the others. I plan to make alliances as time goes on and [the smile fades just a little] since most of the people I know already don't really like me, I need to meet some new people.
[She perks back up.] I'm very likable when people get to know me better, but I'm also extremely competitive. I think a lot of people will underestimate me because I'm only 16 and not, like... a vampire, but I plan to win. Anyone who knows anything about reality television knows that the most unexpected person usually wins. Audiences love underdogs. So I simply have to do whatever it takes to build strong alliances, but be relatively nonthreatening at the same time. Except, of course, in singing, dancing, or theatrical competitions. I can't really help my natural urge to shine in my areas of expertise.
I'm also excited to learn thing from my housemates who have experience with show business. Ms. Slater seems very knowledgeable... though a bit harsh. I want to try to get a lot of advice from people like her while I'm here. Especially if Liz Lemon was right about there being someone like me already on television and winning awards. I don't have a lot of competition as far as my talent is concerned, but if there is another Rachel Berry who is already popular, I need all of the extra advice I can get.
[A practiced, winning smile.] I don't have anything else to say and I'm saving my voice for competitions, so I won't sing for now. I hope you enjoy the show! [Rachel waves to the camera then pushes herself from her seat, straightens her blue t-shirt, tosses her shoulders back confidently and leaves the room.]
