Buffy Summers was getting a little annoyed. It wasn't the fact that it was a Friday night that should have been spent in some club dancing with her friends and she was instead spending it chasing after a vampire. No, it was the fact that despite her reputation as the Slayer that wouldn't die, the vampires still thought they could outrun her. "And they're always wrong," Buffy grumbled as she tackled the vampire from behind, sending them both sprawling to the ground. The pair struggled and Buffy managed to throw the vampire into a nearby weeping angel statue, where the impact caused a stone wing to crack. She pulled out the sword she'd had sheathed under her jacket and had the vampire beheaded before he knew what had hit him. The ash that was the vampire's remains fell to the grass and Buffy sighed.
She was only supposed to be in Cleveland for a few days before heading out to meet Giles across the pond, but it had turned into a couple of weeks thanks to one of the baby slayers having a family emergency. Not that she blamed the girl for having to leave. She wasn't about to deny any of the slayers family ties if they had them, but she wanted to get back to Dawn and just.. not be here. While internally bitching about being the good slayer, Buffy felt her senses tingle, that all too familiar warning that there was something nasty about. She braced herself just as a looming eight foot demon came out of nowhere, which she noted was a handy trick considering his size.
He (It? Her?) swung his huge arm once and Buffy went flying toward the same statue that the vampire had struck. Dazed but not out yet, Buffy managed to keep her grip on the sword as she felt the impact of stone to her back. Her head smacked into the stone and she winced as she fell to the ground. She could hear the demon coming toward her now, whatever stealth he'd had before was apparently no longer needed. With a groan as she ignored the pain in her head, Buffy rolled to the side, barely managing to get to her feet as the demon's fist crushed the statue. Buffy launched herself at him, swinging her blade down upon the demon's outstretched arm. Unfortunately for her, the sword only nicked the the hard mud colored flesh of the demon, allowing for a slim trail of green ooze to bleed to the surface.
The demon grunted, apparently offended by her attack and Buffy barely sidestepped him when he lunged at her. The drumming in her head still hadn't subsided but Buffy refused to let it distract her more than it already had. The slayer spun around to land a strong kick to the demon's back, hoping to send him to the ground, but she found that her dance partner for the night was suspiciously gone. Re-balancing herself on both feet, Buffy found herself confused. Where'd he go? She looked around and while she was still in a cemetery it wasn't the one she'd been in before. For one thing, the broken statue was no longer there and this cemetery had six foot tall walls around it. The previous one had been open. Buffy reached up to the back of her head where the pain seemed to grow. She obviously had a concussion but it couldn't be that bad. After all, she had been holding her own until this, whatever it was, had happened.
With a silent curse at the throbbing pain, the blonde sheathed her weapon and made her exit. Either she was having a hallucination from the concussion or something else had happened. Better to find out what and get it over with as soon as possible in her opinion.
