“Mrnm.” Came the grumble-whine as Sin’s body stirred for the first time since she had collapsed. Everything felt stiff as she tried to stretch like she had lain in the same position for entirely too long. She rolled onto her side, eyes blinking their way open and landing on the painting on her dresser. Sunlight was streaming in through the window. Wait. The window? She bolted upright, a wince from the pain that shot through her at her still tense muscles. Yes, she was in her room, but how did she get here? The last thing she could remember was fixing Dahlia, trying to walk, and then…nothing. She couldn’t remember anything else. Did she manage to walk all the way back herself? A hand reached up to push dark locks out of her eyes, another small wince as she felt a small knot on the side of her head. When had she banged it? Had she not made it all the way back here? But Dahlia, had she actually fixed her completely? Sin fumbled in the pocket of her jeans for her phone, intent to send a message to her to ask how she was, but paused when she saw she had another message. She checked that one first, just in case. For all she knew it could be a message saying that for some reason she hadn’t made it through. But, thankfully, it wasn’t. It was something from Jake letting her know that Dahlia was okay. She smiled, letting herself plop back down onto her pillow. But only for a minute because now she was awake enough to be fully aware that she needed to empty her bladder and refill it before her throat cracked and bled. She sat up, noticing a bottle of water on her nightstand. And it wasn’t one she had put there herself because it wasn’t in the area she usually sat it. Strange. But she wasn’t about to complain. Fingers closed around it, startled at how cold it was. Granted, she never lit the fire in the cabin because she couldn’t be bothered to, but after closer inspection there was a small ice chunk floating in the middle, condensation covering the outside from where it had sat there and melted. And there was only one person here who could leave a signature like that. Did Jake drag her back in here after…had she passed out? The wound was bad and she did always get so exhausted after. Was that what had happened? It seemed likely. She finally uncapped the bottle and took a long drink, the liquid feeling amazing against the dryness of her throat. But what did she do about this? Thank him, obviously. Those were big words, but he’d not left her lying on the floor for others to do whatever to. She owed him big time for that, but repayment was going to take some time to think up. Maybe…no, that idea would be weird. Wouldn't it? And what else was weird was Jaime. Even though she had been mad at her, she still had put it aside to make sure Sin saved Dahlia. Sin still needed to talk to her, but maybe the conversation would go even easier now that she had been mature and not acted like a child and refused to get help because she was angry. If she would just let her explain. Maybe Dom was wrong about the majority of people after all… Or maybe she was still half asleep. No time to think now. She needed to piss and then shower all the dried blood and melted snow away. |
