Dahlia shifted faintly on the couch where she was curled up; Max meowed his dislike for the movement but Dahlia just flung the blanket back over him and he was content. For the last couple hours Dahlia had been attempting to go back to sleep but...it wasn't working. The cabin was quiet. Dahlia had become used to the sounds of another around. Sin had been gone a few days now but last night was the first time since her leaving that Dahlia had really faced her cabin. Staying at Jake's was...nice...but Dahlia knew she had to go back eventually. Even if she didn't want to leave. She had to try to face the quiet. The...emptiness of it.
Vaguely she'd managed to doze Sunday night on the couch in the middle of the empty cabin. It wasn't enough though; she knew that. Knowing she was tired and being able to sleep were always two separate things for Dahlia. Much as she closed her eyes sleep was evading her.
She tried to not get frustrated.
Or angry.
"I'm getting up.." she muttered at Max who attempted to latch onto her arm in an adorable kitty way that would have likely worked if Dahlia wasn't feeling so stir crazy. She wanted to be like the cat and just curl up and sleep the day away. It's likely what she needed really. But the cabin was too quiet and her head too conflicted to keep still. Something felt off...and it wasn't just Sin being gone. Which Dahlia found herself questioning more today than she had the days before...
Shuffling slightly in exhaustion Dahlia put some food out for Max and tried to convince herself that getting ready to leave the cabin wasn't as taxing an endeavor as it felt like it was. Shower, dressing, gathering her bag up and remembering her phone...easy enough but it took Dahlia longer than it should have.
Part of that delay wasn't from weariness but from confusion. She wanted to bring some pens with her when she went out. Just in case she found a spot to draw; she knew if she felt creative at all she had to latch onto the feeling. She'd managed to paint a little at Jakes but Dahlia still feared losing her creative abilities. The pens she wanted weren't in the cabin though. Or if they were she couldn't find them.
Had Sin taken them? Had she left them at Jake's? She didn't remember bringing them there...
Eventually she'd settled on some other ones but they weren't what she wanted...
Finally she was ready to go; she paused at the door to glance back into the cabin but could only shake her head and close the door. She didn't want to think about the cabin anymore. Tired as she was the new environment was pretty. Maybe it was a bit strange, a bit...unusual in that it didn't look like anything real but Dahlia liked that.
In a way she knew she shouldn't trust it. The jungle had been pretty too but it had been filled with poisonous things. She should be careful; wary. She should be yes; but instead found herself kicking off her sandals to feel the soft purple grass against her toes.
Her sandals were tucked into her bag and her sunglasses were put on before she began to walk. Maybe she should have waited for dark to explore. She could have lingered in the cabin and tried to decorate for valentine's day until it was dark...but Dahlia didn't like to let herself be hindered by the light. She wanted to be out. To move.
Adjusting the weight of her bag Dahlia found the nearest path that lead away from the cabins and began to follow it. Eventually she'd wind her steps back towards the keep and gather up some of the fruit Jaime had mentioned. For now, however, she kept one foot going in front of the other...following the curving path into the forest where the dark stole away some of that light.
