"We don't need a guest room." "And if we have guests?" "Word will get around fast. We won't have guests." "I like no guests." "I need more space. For my books." "Apart from the library?" "The library is for occasional books." "And the shelves in the bedroom?" "For bedtime books." "You can't have any more of the dining room shelves. Go find a new room somewhere rural." "I need a place to keep the knives where the elves won't accidentally decapitate themselves, it would be good to have underground space... and isn't it expected?" "By 'underground space' do you mean dungeon?" "Even the Borgins have a shallow basement." "You do mean dungeon." "Or an expansive cellar that's separate from the wine cellar." "I have some good books for a cellar." "It's a dungeon." "We need a guest room." "Pardon?" "We need a room for guests." "Why would that be if we're not hosting guests?" "There's still blood on the bedroom carpet." "That was one mistake. You're overreacting." "Ok. We need a mistake room." "Fine. It will be neither well-furnished nor comfortable." "A room for uncomfortable mistakes. Got it." "... and the actual care of the plants can be delegated to the elves." "I see you've included carnivorous plants on the list." "I'm flattered you read my list." "The list was vague regarding the size of said carnivorous plants." "In the interest of spontaneity, I hadn't decided yet." "Sharp objects in the chess room are banned." "It was the game room. Darts are a game." "Was the hole in my shoulder part of the game?" "Mistakes happen." "Mistakes can happen in the mistake room. This is the chess room." "I wonder what you'd call your last chess game, then." "An ode to cheating in three parts." "That's a china cabinet, not a bookshelf." "That's very narrowminded." "At the risk of sounding materialistic, we have to put plates somewhere." "We have no guests and one dog." "For now." "This half, then." |
