Sokka stared daggers through his impenetrable cast of hardened sap. Although he couldn't really at the moment move much he was yelling EWWWWW! in his head loudly enough that he wouldn't be surprised if they heard it back in the Fire Kingdom. Somewhere between the giant tongue of the sky bison and the weird plants flowing with nasty goop he'd had it up to here with this forest. It was worst than when Katara got distracted and ended up freezing him like an ice cube! Finally he began to loosen up and finally collapsed in a still somewhat sticky but thankfully loosened heap on the forest floor, balefully looking up at the happy bison. Sokka figured he owed the big flying carpet for freeing him so he chose not to object too strongly to the bath. Instead he turned and scrambled up to his feet, peering at Aang. "So… Thanks. I guess. What is this place anyway? It certainly has some strange stuff in it. And you seem to know it well enough." He looked around. "It's so different from anywhere we've been before. There's… Man the air is heavy."
Sokka hurled his boomerang in the air out of curiosity, seeing if maybe it would get stuck. It seemed thick enough to be flesh, earth, snow, anything other than what it was supposed to be. He could taste it tangibly on his tongue, now if only he could taste some food. Everything just seemed so much more… Real here, vivid. He was a boy who didn't notice this stuff that often but even to his own perceptions, so much more limited than Aang's, this place had magic to it. Things that were not quite what they seemed on the surface.
At least one thing always worked, he sourly reflected, as his faithless boomerang returned in its journey and thwacked Sokka on the head. "Owwwww! Bad boomerang!"
