Claire slipped her sweater over her head and folded it against her chest before tucking it away in her locker. She replaced it quickly with her red cheerleader top and dropped her jeans, pulling up her skirt and zipping it carefully. The zippers were so flimsy on these school products. Pushing her feet in to a pair of perfect white sneakers and tossed her slightly curled hair behind her shoulders. Her bow was already in place and it bounced upon her head as she headed outside, bright sun causing her to squint and the blond raised a hand to shield her eyes. The lush football field stood before her and girls flipped through the air while players lounged on the benches, playing favorites with the cheerleaders and no doubt dealing some drugs on the side.
She offered a wave to a few girls before taking her place in the main line up and stepping forward, shaking her hips as the music started and keeping time with her team. Despite the fact that she hadn't seen him in forever, the teenager searched the metal stands for any sign of the familiar mousy brown hair. She spun on her heel and turned back towards the stands, but Peter didn't appear and she was still alone. Claire always felt stronger when her Uncle was around and even though she excelled at cheer leading she still missed his presence.
"Claire!"
The call of her couch shook her from her meanderings and she shot forward, hands above her head and body propelled forward, legs in the hair, poker straight, and she flipped elegantly. A pull to the left, a familiar smile she swore was in her direction and suddenly she was off and falling out of control.
