Oliver was most definitely not a suit and a polite chit chat kind of guy. Hence why he much preferred staying on a Quidditch pitch and, well, doing Quidditchy things than going off to the Ministry of Magic. It wasn’t just any old place where you had to behave nicely, it was the Ministry with actual ministers walking about and doing, well, minestery things.Which meant that Oliver had to be on his best behaviour for no apparent reason at all, apart from being polite. Which was frustrating. Oliver had no problem with being polite, in fact, he preferred to be polite, but it was when he was expected to be polite that Oliver got annoyed. The Pud U manager had told Oliver to be on his ‘best behaviour’ when he got to the Ministry, which to Oliver implied that he wasn’t usually on his best behaviour. Hence the annoyance.
In general, Oliver would have sent someone else from his team to deal with the Ministry, but this time it was about organising a charity event and, well, Oliver couldn’t really say ‘no’ to charity, it just wasn’t the done thing. His manager hadn’t really told him just what it was the Ministry wanted from him but Oliver assumed it couldn’t be something too hard. He’d done a few charity matches through the years, one of which had even been against the Falcons. Oliver was still pretty sure they had been shamed into it. This is working on the assumption that the Falcons could be shamed.
He’d also done a few calendars for the Ministry before, so really, this whole charity malarkey was something that Oliver was quite used to. It was the suits that annoyed him, even though he had probably worn more suits than he had ever imagined he would. Balls and promotions and all kinds of things you don’t think Quidditch players would be required to attend. Turns out, they really were. Just like they were expected to organise charity events for their teams with the even organisers at the Ministry. How exciting.
After walking for what felt like a mile, Oliver finally reached a very sad looking receptionist who didn’t even notice him before he spoke. “Hi,” which was always a good start. “I’m here to see,” he had to look down to remind himself who it was he was meant to see. “Miss Brown about a charity event?” He offered to the sad looking receptionist in hopes that she won’t burst out in tears. She really should have rang in sick he decided as she only pointed at the door behind her, without as much as saying a word.
Oliver knocked lightly before opening the door. “Miss Brown?” He offered before entering the office. Wonder if the sad looking receptionist would make him a cup of tea...
