WHO: Fleur and Roger
WHEN: evening September 25 (sorry for the backdate)
WHERE: pub near Wasps pitch
WHAT: Fleur does something really dumb with Roger
RATING: high

Fleur had entered the pub over an hour ago and had begun drinking heavily. She hadn't intended to get drunk, just drink enough to forget a bit, to ease the pain. His brother was more important than she was. After all his arguments about them needing to be the most important thing to each other, when she was ready to cave, when she was ready to take down the final barrier, he shut her down.

He had refused her, in the end.

Fleur downed another whisky, not appreciating the fine taste and aroma. She needed to feel appreciated, desired, and currently, she wasn't sure she cared who gave it to her.

And Roger Davies was nothing if not completely devoted to his actions, flirtations and quidditch first among those. She knew his reputation had been well-earned, and while she didn't judge him for it, it wasn't what she would have wanted for her life. Though quidditch ran hers as well, she supposed.

SHe shook her head, "Neglect, failure to connect, it is all the same." She wanted to accuse Bill of having left her, changed ways, but as angry as she was, the words wouldn't quite come out.

When he touched her cheek, she closed her eyes. Such small intimate gestures had been lost to she and Bill, though she didn't know when. Things had changed, and judging by the fact she was here instead of telling her husband she'd agreed to have a family, the rift was far more than she had imagined.

"Never get married, Roger. It destroys you. You think you know someone, you think you will continue to grow down the same path. It never does."

She reached over and touched his hand, gently laying hers on top. The simple act of flesh against flesh was a new drug, and something that shouldn't have meant anything to her had Bill remained who she had thought he was.

Now Roger was entirely conflicted. Morals told him not to do anything, yet clearly she wanted to talk, needed certain reassurances. He downed his drink, not even mindful of the hypocrisy of it, given his earlier admonishment of her for doing the same. Anything to not notice the feelings brewing at the feel of her hand upon his. Even now, her touch was intoxicating in a way that he hadn't felt since that night in the garden during the Yule Ball.

"Thinks can't be that bad," he said, pouring another drink. "Sure, everyone goes through rough times. But if they really care, they work it out." But was that the same here? If she was at this point, had they slipped so far? "Everything's become routine. You just have to rediscover yourself is all. Take a moment and step outside of your comfort zone, and do something that would normally seem irrational. Go see a muggle picture,or the opera. Spend the afternoon tossing coins in a fountain. Anything that's not routine. Don't be yourself. You'll rediscover yourself, then go back, have a right royal shagging, and... and you'll feel much better."

Least, it sounded good to hear it. It had always worked for him, but then his situation was different than hers. Maybe it wouldn't apply. In which case, well, he wasn't certain what to do, given he really wasn'tqualified for this. Who did healers go to when they needed healing?
