What: Annalisa takes Bryce on a surprise vacation for his birthday

Rating: PG-13 for now

She'd instructed Bryce he was only allowed to work a half-day tops today. She'd even surprised herself by taking Friday off of practice just to make sure everything was going to be perfect for when they left. Annalisa had the gifts shrunk down and in her luggage as well as a bag packed for Bryce, and a portkey set for three p.m. She checked everything over three times just to be sure that she wasn't forgetting anything.

Birthdays were important to Annalisa, or at least Bryce's was. He'd never had the loving supportive family that she was raised with and that she came to expect others deserved and when it came to holidays, particularly one so personal as a birthday, she strived to make it everything she could. This year she'd been trying particularly hard though and she hoped and prayed that everything would go smoothly. (Although she had a feeling she was going to get in trouble for just how many gifts she'd bought.)

When she heard the floo flare to life she checked the clock. Half-hour before schedule. Perfect.

He gave her a confused look, head tilting slightly with a confused smile on his face before he answered. "Because men don't apply. Hard to hire men in all female applicants." He never saw men working at any offices to be honest, at least not in the secretarial positions, his office was no different. "You find me a man that's actually decent and wants to apply the next time, and I'll hire him." Bryce teased, leaning in to kiss her on the mouth before pulling away with a grin.

As she began to undress him, he stepped back somewhat to let her continue; frowning as his jacket fell to the floor; his head followed it's path and his mouth opened for a moment to argue but stopped short as she took control of his arms to roll up his sleeves. He figured he should probably help, but instead watched as she worked the cuffs with some difficulty, laughing aloud when she finished and proclaimed her work 'better'.

Going to pull her into a hug he was interrupted when she reached out to hand him an envelope causing him to look between it and her curiously before taking it, smiling without realizing he was smiling.

He had the envelope mostly open when she leaned in to kiss him, her words sincere, and Bryce nearly beamed. "Exciting. Now you have me all curious." Holding the card, letting the envelope hang loose in his hand, he began to read the front only mildly surprised when he felt the tug behind his navel, pulling them away to places unknown.

Anna pursed her lips and gave a small shrug/nod combo. "I guess that makes sense." When he told her that he'd hire a decent male secretary she beamed at him without exactly meaning to. "You rock," she assured him, giving him a quick kiss, though they both knew she was never going to seek out a replacement his secretary.

Seeing Bryce like this, laughing and smiling honest easy smiles made her swell. She loved seeing him this way. This was what bonded them, what her mother didn't see, what the tabloids didn't see. "That's the idea," she told him with her own smile.

As they came out on the other side of the portal they were standing in front of seaside cottage. It didn't look like much compared to Derrik Manor but she wasn't looking to impress him, not with this.

She smiled at him and took his hand to lead him into the house. It was fully furnished with nice, warm decor, and all of their bags were already waiting for them. "Welcome to your weekend off," she told him as she turned in his arms and kissed him quickly. Annalisa then led him through the place, giving a quick tour (she'd already visited while making plans) and made sure to end in the bedroom where there was a small stack of gifts on the foot of the bed.
