Characters: Annalisa Derrik and Michelle Moon
Date: 05 September 2004
Location: Medical Center at Puddlemere's Pitch
Status/Warning: Private
Summary: Annalisa finally gets her physical
Completion: Complete

The season was finally starting on Monday and Annalisa could already feel the excitement humming in her veins. She was looking forward to flying with her teammates again and to every up and down that encompassed an entire season. She also had high outlook for Puddlemere's success. The Wasp's had always been her dream-team since she was young and they'd managed to dominate the championship last year as well- but Puddlemere was her home club right now and she was nothing if not dedicated to her team. It helped that a lot of her fellow players she'd known in Hogwarts too. No, wanting to fly for the Wasp's or not, she was still on board with Puddlemere who had come close to beating the other team last year. She was nothing if not confident in their abilities to correct their mistakes this year.

Of course, to be able to play she was going to have to get her physical. Most likely Moon wouldn't be in office on a Sunday and there was slim chance she'd be allowed to fly in practice on Monday if she didn't get the damned thing finished. As she watched the sun sliding low in the sky Saturday evening she grumbled. There was a part of her that hoped Moon would already be gone for the day and she'd some how convince coach to let her fly for just Monday, delaying the exam for another couple days; then again, she'd likely be in a lot of trouble.

Between having to visit hospitals for her father and her brother, both of which had died in them, and having seen the inside of a room too many times for her own injuries, Annalisa despised healers, healing, medi-witches, you name it. Despite her frequent injuries she avoided going to see a Healer if at all possible and even when she did she was stubborn and frustrating, she knew.

With a sigh she apparated to the pitch and made her way through the halls to the medical office, crossing her fingers that Moon would be gone, like any sane person would be at this time of day.

"Was your aunt there too?" she asked, raising a brow. She didn't figure she could stand a week in a relaxing shrine, it sounded mind-numbing to her, she was antsy just thinking about it. "Sounds like Tokyo is a bit more my pace," she said wit ha smirk.

When the robe was held to her she frowned. "Oh come on!" she argued, not taking it. She hated these damn check-ups. Stupid ass healers. If she weren't in a profession that required regular medical attention she'd never have to endure them, ever. "That can't really be necessary."

"Yeah she took the time on for that trip. It was the three of us and our friend Yuki's family. Its' their shrine. Got to help out. I still have my kimono... it still fits," she smiled at the memory.

She was expecting this reaction, after all this was Montgomery after all. She'd been doing this for years. She knew exactly what would happen and the old argument always happened. "No, it's not part of the normal check, but if you'll recall you have a severe dislike for hospitals?" she said with a tilt of her head. "I recall a conversation that began all this? The one about you preferring me as your primary care physician. Or did you forget that? This is not only your quidditch clearance but also your yearly physical. You're the one who wanted this. I send the chart to Mungos, they keep it on file. If you would rather go there, just say the word."

It was going to end the same way. It always did. She said it casually, knowing that she was going to win this one. Either way someone would do this.

Annalisa's lips pulled together in a disapproving purse, her eyes narrowing to a subtle glare, and her brows down in anger- all resulting in a very displeased pinched look. If you recall she parrotted back in her mind snidely. Yes, she was aware she didn't like hospitals.

"I didn't say prefer. I said-" she stopped. This was her career, not her husband. Slowly she let out her breath so that she could relax before bitterly snatching the gown.

"You enojy this too much," she said accusingly (though mostly playfully) as she hopped off the table and made her way to the changing room. She didn't mean the physical itself, but the yearly having Annalisa bend to her will.

It didn't take long for her to change out of her jeans and top and into the ridiculous gown. When she came out she was a grumpy as ever. "Let's just get this over with," she grumbled as she got back on the table.

"Believe me the only joy I get from this job is the piece of mind that those in my charge are healthy." She paused. "Well... that and getting to see all of the Quidditch matches. That is definately a plus." She would have seen them anyway, given her uncle was always up in the box. "And besides, its only once a year."

When she came back, Shelly dispatched with the normal tests, listening to the heartbeat, checked everything else that was necessary for the physical to count. She knew that much of it was uncomfortable but it was necessary in order for her to sign off. Finally she nodded and got out a needle. "Alright," she smiled. "Last part... you know how it goes. I have to do the spell to test your blood, but I can't do that till I draw some." IT was generally the least liked part of the test, because it told exactly what was in her players' systems. And some people didn't like it. It was amazing how many people were afraid of needles...

Annalisa hated physicals. She hated them. The idea of voulentarily going to see a Healer for the most invasive, personal exams... It was insane. It was aboslutely crazy. She'd much rather be in the hospital because she fell off of a broom or ran into the side of a mountain, or even getting in a fight! But this? Not this. The entire exam she grumbled in her mind an on going stream objections, outwardly she was silent, gritting her teeth, and perhaps a little more tense than most were used to seeing her.

When it came to drawing blood Annalisa actually was relieved. It meant they were nearly done and needles didn't bother her like most. She didn't have anything to hide like other players did so she gladly held out her arm. "Just don't wiggle the needle, okay?" That was the feeling she couldn't stand.

She rolled her eyes. "Right because I'm going to intentionally cause you discomfort." She shook her head, taking the necessary measures to find the vein and draw blood. It took her two tries to find it. It wasn't really her fault. Some of the players were just easier to find than others...

Having drawn it, Shelly separated it into different dishes and cast several spells on each. The results were negative for all items being tested for. The rest of the blood was to be sent off to an actual lab for a workup, but that wasn't part of the quidditch check. "You'er good. Another year, another checkup and another quidditch clearance from the doctor," she grinned. "See? Was it really that bad?"

Annalisa smirked when the healer rolled her eyes. She gritted her teeth while she tried for the vein, it was a common problem she had and Anna was used to it. then came the waiting- waiting for the tests she knew would come back negative. Her mood started to lift knowing this was the end finally.

With a playful smirk she regarded Moon and hopped off the exam table. "You don't want an answer to that. Can I change now?" It was hard to be happy over anything when she was in one of those gowns.

Shelly nodded. "We're done. Go ahead and change back into your clothes."

She turned around letting her patient get behind the curtain in privacy. "You're perfectly healthy, I'll send the blood out for its workup by the lab but other than that you're in good health from what I can see." She grabbed the chart and put her signature at the bottom. "And now you can play on Monday."

She paused for a moment. "Now I know that you love to wait till the last minute, but next time, can you come an hour or so earlier?" she laughed. "My assitant thougtht I was crazy for staying this late."

Anna was glad to change back into her jeans and top, practically hugging them to her body before stepping out. "I might party but I'm still dedicated to staying in shape," she said plainly. "Not that I'm not glad you didn't find anything, obviously." Even if she had no doubts that she'd be cleared to play, hearing it was a great feeling.

She did offer an apologetic smile about coming late. "You know- I- well thanks, for staying late for me and shit." She ran her hand through her hair, never quite good with stuff like thanks and apologies. "Don't know what I'll do if I ever get traded, yeah?" she gave a small laugh.

"I'll try and remember it for next year though. I'm sure I'll see you soon." Annalisa offered a friendly smile and a small wave as she made her way out of the room and back toward the main pitch area. Looking around made her grin, the excitement humming through her to the tips of her fingers. Finally she thought, excited to start practices Monday. Unfortunately, she didn't have the time to linger, she still had things to finish and a promotional event too.
