Who: Fleur Weasley and Miles Bletchley
When: 3 September 2004
Where: Fleur's medical office
What: Miles is due for his physical
Status: Closed/Incomplete
Rating: PG

Fleur sat at her desk, making additional notes on the report she needed to give to Parkinson later. A glance at her clock showed it was 10:28. Bletchley should be arriving any minute. Every year it was the same. She would be perfectly professional and later, she'd go home to a husband who still felt insecure about his face. She wasn't sure when he started getting insecure again, or if he'd never stopped and she'd just thought he had. But she didn't care that he was scarred. That wasn't why the fire had gone out. It had gone out when he seemed to be content with his desk job.

She finished her notes and carefully set the parchment to the side, getting her dictation quill ready and a fresh sheet of parchment. She sighed, laying her head back and staring at the ceiling. Was she supposed to be overwhelmed with the glamour of doing physicals on these men? So many were jealous. They were just bodies. She didn't understand it.

Fleur's eyes danced at the discussion of harder drinks. "Yes, full of ice and they sneak up on you. They may not have the power of the harder stuff, but you drink much more of them!" She shook her head slightly. "I can see your point though. On the beach I imagine it is quite different than seeing who you can drink under the table from an opposing team."

She herself had only engaged in that behavior a few times, but each time was an amusing treasure. While the players on her team might flirt and tease, she knew they respected her, which always meant she wouldn't emasculate them so.

"I have no idea, Bletchley. I have seen some of the things you've done, and heard about many more and yet your body seems no worse for the wear, and despite allegations, I've never yet found a trace of something illicit. Still, my thoroughness helps your reputation."

She looked down at the parchment, picking up a quill and making a few notes by hand. Looking up, she laughed, "I realize you are not used to being told goodbye by witches, but unless you can find another reason for me to keep you here, you are the picture of health."

"Very true," Miles said with a sheepish grin. He did know all about that. "I could sit on the beach all day and drink those things and wonder why I was stumbling back to the hotel. At least when I drink someone under the table, I usually walk away a little easier."

He laughed when she said he was the picture of health. "You have never found anything illicit because I do draw the line. Most thing I don't but I have worked too damn hard to waste it. Sure, I drink, and I smoke when I drink, but I am entitled to a few vices." Sex was right up there on that list but he didn't say that.

"I did just get here and I don't think I told you how nice you look today," he said with a smirk, checking her mirror to make sure his clothes were adjusted.

Fleur laughed and nodded, knowing precisely what that was like. "Yes, yes." It was when she wasn't paying attention to how much she was drinking that she got rip-roaring drunk, though even that wasn't all that often.

Yes, Bletchley did draw the line, as did many others. "That, Bletchley is because you have sense in there," she motioned to his head with her quill. "Too many fools think that there are shortcuts to success." Too many idiots thinking they could sneak in something they shouldn't for a quick buzz or a quick pound. She never understood why in a game where reflexes were everything, anyone would put their mind at risk. Then again, she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to.

"Thank you, Bletchley, and you, as always, the Greek god Keeper of the Wasps." His comment to her was amusing at least in part because he was checking himself out possibly more than her. Narcissism came easily with the players, she'd decided long ago.

"Paragon of masculinity that you are, do try to remember us poor witches who cannot help but be taken in by you," she sighed dramatically, eyes dancing as she shook her head. "Go on. I expect you'll be flirting with me from a stretcher within two weeks so it isn't as if you never see me," she teased.

"That you witches are taken with me is a good thing," Miles laughed. "You should be that." He did have a sense of humor about it. He knew that he ate up attention like candy. He knew that he was hungry for publicity good or bad. He knew that he used it to take more than a few women to bed.

He grabbed his bag and headed for the door. "Make it four weeks though. I don't want to let you get me on my back too easily." He winked at her again and opened the door.

"Off to defend more rings from the dreaded quaffle."

Fleur laughed, "Yes, well, where would you players be without us witches to cheer you on? Despite everything. Do take care of yourself and try not to see me too often. I promise you can simply talk to me at the sidelines. You don't need a stretcher for it!"

She waved him out of her office and looked down, scratching her quill across the parchment to finish the paperwork.
