Fic Rec!
This is absolutely one of my favourite fics ever! It's a what if... Brian did move to New York in season 1, told from Justin's POV.
I have so much love for this fic.

Part 1
Part 2
Do you love it too? Tell me why. I'll go first...
Her writing style is wonderful. She says so much about Justin's state of mind in just a few words. And she pegs Brian in just a few words too.
At the start she has Justin going through the motions of life. Fucking guys and not even remembering them afterwards. Justin actually has a lot in common with Brian I believe, and because this is such a departure from canon, I can buy this Justin.
Even though that huge milestone in the B/J relationship - the bashing - never happened, Justin is still somewhat shellshocked when we meet him here. Brian leaving him to move to New York gave him a sort of PTSD effect. And as their friendship grows Justin starts to come out of his fog. It's a beautiful thing.
I love the Ethan parts. Even in AU he's mostly insignifigant in the long run! I love B/J's moment on Deb's cold back porch.
I LOVE that they become best friends first. There's really no other fic I can think of where B/J are such good friends and it just seems so right.
I love their monthly visits to the movies that Brian insists on, even though we never find out why. Is it something he and Michael did as kids? They do visit that cinema in 120. Is it something Brian equates with friendship? It's heartening, and I love in hindsight realising their first trip to the movies was probably to mark the anniversary of Brian's yearly cancer checkup.
Speaking of, I adore how Brian tells Justin about the cancer.
I love how she describes huge events in just a line or two that heightens the impact instead of lessening it.
I fucking LOVE the ILY. It doesn't seem in any way implausible or OOC. It feels totally right at that moment.
I love the Debbie scenes, her voice is spot-on. I love Justin wishing he was back in her awful fantastic kitchen.
LOVE the ending, which is just the beginning.
*happy sigh*
