Challenge #38 Liberty Avenue
Title: Liberty Avenue Farewell
Author: Brianswalk
Timeframe: Way, way post season 5 (I hope)
Warnings: DEATH!DRABBLE, but not the boys.

ETA Condom: Brian Liberty Avenue Farewell

Justin let out a quiet gasp as the limo turned onto Liberty Avenue, causing the others to gaze out their windows.

Hundreds of twinks, bears, leather daddies, and drag queens lined the street, decked out in their best and brightest. Some held hands, some wept openly as the cortège passed. Music roared out as the hearse passed the diner and the mourners turned into revelers.

“What are they doing?” Carl asked.

“Celebrating her life,” Brian replied.

“Look at all those guys,” Michael said. “A bit much, don’t you think, Brian?”

“This wasn’t my doing, Mikey. It’s Deb’s boys saying goodbye.”

holy shit you made me cry! I don't think a drabble has ever made me cry before!

No, no, no. No tears. Deb would have wanted a celebration!

I didn't want anyone to tear up, but I guess it's a nice compliment! Debbie's life was a celebration, her death should be, too. I'm so glad you liked it.

I can pretty much say that every time you write a drabble, I will be impressed. This one tops the list, my dear. I've read it three times and teared up every time.

And, more than all the "boys" telling her goodbye, I was very touched that you had the four that you did in the limo together.

Beautifully done.

Stop, you're making me blush!

I actually had the whole procession in my head. The hearse, flower car (with lots of rainbow banners and flags), limo #1 with Carl, Michael, Brian, and Justin. I was a little iffy as to whether Ben would still be around (don't I suck?) Limo #2 had Ted, Emmett, their respective partners, and the Girls. Jenn (and her hubby) had the kids in a car farther back.
And yet, I can't plan my own funeral...

Thanks for the lovely comments, Tweedy.

(hugs you)

Oh, this is beautiful, and I can really imagine it happening. Debbie really was a mother to everyone who came in the diner. ♥♥♥

Sorry, my only Deb icon is so very inappropriate, but I love it (and her).
Can you imagine how many lives she would have touched by the time she was, say, 70 years old? Incredible.

So glad you liked it, thank you!

Don't be sad, Bunny. Deb lead a long, happy life. She died peacefully. She's with Vic, dishing up the puttanesca and watching Bette Davis movies. She's happy, you should be too.

Love it. Deb would have been proud.

I'm definitely adding this to my favorites.

And Deb wouldn't have wanted it any other way. A very fitting tribute. And I love the fact that you had the four of them in the limo.

Beautifully done.

Deb loved all of her boys, but let's face it, they were her favorites. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you.

OMG, I haven't spoken to you in 2 weeks and you come out of the blue to nag me? Admit Brian is beautiful and I'll post the damn thing.

Let me read it over, and I'll post it at my journal since it doesn't fit the challenge.

BTW, aren't you supposed to be working?

BTW2, I'm glad you liked this one, I'm surprised so many people read it.

BTW3, if I post the damn thing, you better comment, because no one else will. B/J death!drabbles are like, a major no, no.
