Michael watched JR tip-toe into the room, stopping by the bed.
“It’s midnight sweetheart, you should be asleep”
“It’s so windy Daddy and that tree is making spooky noises”
He had meant clean out the guttering of leaves and trim back the branches yesterday, but instead they had a picnic in the park.
“Can I sleep with you and Uncle Ben….please Daddy?”
He looked at her, his own brown eyes reflecting back at him and knew he couldn’t say no.
He pulled back the covers as she climbed in, snuggling into his arms, as the wind continued to scream outside.
