Show and Tell: The Diner Edition
One of the things I enjoy the most about QAF, especially in the early seasons,
was the way "the gang" met up in the Diner. I think some of the best
interactions between characters occurred there, and so many clues to what was
going on inside a storyline were shared with us, the viewers, if we paid close
attention to what was going on in the Liberty Diner.

One of my favorite diner scenes is from episode 108. After Justin's Dad
beats the crap out of Brian everyone ends up in the Diner, even though
before the attack they all seemed to be heading off on their separate ways for
the rest of the night.

We see Justin embellishing his part in the drama, Brian petulantly trying to bring attention back to his trauma, and we find out, also in a dramatic way, that Debbie has been overworking trying to make ends meet. We get a whole lot of information, a whole lot of snappy dialogue all in the space of about two minutes.

Now it's your turn. ;)

Show me some of your favorite diner scenes and tell me why.

LOL - Brian and Justin competing for attention and the Best Lead Actor in a Drama - hadn't thought of it that way before, but I will every time I watch this now. :)

I can think of many diner scenes I love. One is at the end of 120, when Justin reports back on his night with the trick after being crowned KOB. All the guys are there - even Blake, all welcoming Justin to the table ("Hail to the king!" hee), and watching Brian's reactions - and Michael getting the reference when Justin says "I told him he could see me in his dreams."

And Brian's look when Justin says this (see icon). *melt*

Oh yeah...that's a great diner moment!

Justin showing just what an apt pupil he was. So much being said without words there!

And Brian flicking Ted when he wants details about Justin with the trick- priceless!

"Speak slowly and enunciate."

I'm lying on the floor laughing everytime Ted says it. And Blake is so cute in it, too, sipping his coffee!

Ooh - love that icon!

I really do like that Blake is in this scene. He's one of the gang, if only for a short while at first.

Hee. It's the little things like this that make QAF so much fun to watch again and again. I notice something new every time.

Hee - I'd claim "great minds think alike" and all that, but won't presume ;)

It really is one of the sweetest B/J moments ... they're really still getting to know each other at this stage, aren't they.

I also love when Brian babysits Gus and the others ask him what a Huggie is. It's so funny!

LOL - oh god - that's where Brian reveals some past experience with an old guy who had a thing for diapers, isn't it. *shudders and giggles*

Yes, that's the one. When he says he knows about diapers... "He liked wearing them while I spanked him." I LOVE how Justin goes "gross" and Debbie counters, "kinky."

Another one - we just watched it on European-Timed Marathons - at the end of 307. Brian, ever-observant of Justin:

Someone didn’t sleep at home.

Justin: What are you, a detective?

Brian (not managing to conceal his satisfaction at the apparent turn of events): No. It’s just the same stunning ensemble you wore yesterday. ... Do I detect a discordant note in Loves Tender Refrain?

Hee. Really - Justin's sad, so this probably shouldn't feel so good - but knowing what's just around the corner, it so does!

Add to that the fact that Ted's not going to jail - because Brian came through for him - it's definitely one of my happy diner moments. :)

Oh good one!! I remember the first time I watched S3;I was just so happy the reunion was imminent, and after seeing Brian falling apart for all the episodes before that, I was like, "Look Brian! He will soon be your Sunshine again!" But yeah, I think we all tend to be so relieved Ethan is gone, we don't sympathize with Justin like we should here-lol!

I just watched 108 yesterday!!!! I love that scene, but my fave line is when Debbie says, "Where was I?" And Ted and Michael say, "Sucking cock" and "Taking it up the ass," and she's all, "Oh, right."

I LOVE DEBBIE!
