The ending leaves me wanting more, like what happens to them after Justin leads Brian out of his father's house, but it did end at a good place.
I think that last sentence ("Then he takes Brian's hand and leads him out of his father's house.") is one of the most perfect endings I've ever read. For one thing, it is a paraphrase of a biblical line in Judges. (Substitute her for his, and you have the original.) Reading that line in a completely new context, and without any previous literary references, stopped me cold. Then, in that new context, it is so apposite, so right: if ever anyone needed to be led out of his father's house, it is Brian. Thank God, I thought...and my thought seemed to repeat the biblical reference. FanSee
