FanFIc reading club, c'mon and tell us what you think
The Oxford English Dictionary defines satire as:
The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize other people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues."

I love Brian and Justin, and I love to laugh.
As much as a deeply, well written story with great drama can enthrall me, the stories that take the us for a ridiculous spin can captivate me just as much.
I hope you enjoyed reading the selected fics:
Brian Kinney Saves the Universe by Valerie Lewis
M!Preg, a Satire by Jane
M!Preg, Epilogue by Jane
The Wedding Satire by Jane
All of the above fanfic use the elements of Humor, Irony, Exaggeration and Ridicule expertly to criticize varying aspects of politics, fanfic, and QAF itself. In reading any of these fics, how do you see satire being used to bring home the overall point the author is trying to make?
Can you suspend disbelief long enough to see the elements of canon that appear in all of these fics? What do you see as the best use of satire and canon in each?
One of the key elements of the definition of satire is "other people's stupidity". What is your favorite example of "other people's stupidity" amongst the selected readings?
Often satire walks a fine line. Have any of the selected fics, in your opinion gone too far? Where have they crossed the line?
Discuss any or all of the following:
The machiavellian manipulations of Brian in Brian Kinny Saves the Universe
The use of bad spelling of BBJFE in The Wedding Satire and M!Preg, A Satire
Jane taking us out of the box in The Wedding Satire
I hope these questions get us started in our conversation.
If you don't feel like commenting on the leading questions, then just join in the conversation by letting us know how you see the definition of satire applying to the readings.
Here's the definition again:
The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize other people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues."
