Gosh darn subject line...
I started lurking yesterday, so I don't have my Lurkers Anonymous badge yet or anything, but I figured I'd better officially stick my nose in before I got cold feet, as it were.
So I discovered QaF about three weeks ago. Actually, that's a lie. I'd known about it for a few years, and desperately wanted to watch it, but there were a few inhibiting elements. 1) I live in the boondocks with no tv. Well, I have a tv, but no satellite/cable/whatever. It's movies for me. 2) Utter lack of respectable internet; I'm on 24 kb/s dialup as I type. 3) Uber religious, homophobic (in the love-the-sinner-not-the-sin way) father. But a couple weeks ago, my writing buddy from California sent me a link to a site called surfthechannel.com. I think he was trying to get me to watch Dr. Who. Occasionally (when the generator is running the ethernet box) I have half-decent high speed, so I poked around on this site and came across QaF, thought 'Ah-HA!' and spent an hour loading the first episode. And thus was born my addiction. But considering the low quality, sporadic internet availability, and strange habit of surfthechannel to go nearly offline after 6pm, I broke down and ordered the first season on amazon. When it finally arrived, I locked myself in my room and managed to limit myself to watching all 22 episodes in four days. It would have been more like two if I hadn't had to sleep/eat/go to the bathroom/see my boyfriend once in a while (although he did manage to sit through half of the first epi with me before it devolved into me watching and him doing fun things with his hands). :) And now, I am waiting with extreme impatience for season 2 to show its face in the mail.
I haven't started writing fic yet... not sure when that will happen. My writing is sporadicly inspired at best, so who knows. But I've been reading and drooling and dreaming (literally- last night's dreams consisted of the cast of QaF making out with the cast of Trainspotting, interspersed with my baby chickens running around the counter at work while I tried to serve coffee to customers), so I think by now I've earned my certificate as QaF enthusiast, junkie, and devotee.
Also, random question: how does this site relate to livejournal.com? I've got one of those, under the same username as here, but I haven't updated in forever... Heh. Anyway, I'm totally thrilled if anyone wants to friend me. Anyone at all. I'm a friend whore. :D
