Fanfic Reading Club Update...
Hello all! Here's a quick update on the Fanfic Reading Club:
happier_bunny and I are still working on the schedule. We apologize for the delay, but hope to have more information soon. We've had a lot of people sign up to host and some really excellent choices in fic.
Our plan is to do approximately one fic discussion per month. This will give everyone enough time to read (especially some of the longer fics) and comment without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Quite a number of people who signed up asked that they not be scheduled to go first. So we've decided that I'll host the first fic discussion myself. I'm really excited about my selection and hope you all will be, too. More details soon! ;)
Several people asked if someone could review their discussion posts before posting in the community. I'd be more than happy to do this for anyone. Just give me enough lead-time and e-mail me your draft to: testdog65@yahoo.com. Remember, the approach you take to your fic and discussion is up to you. Squeefest, in-depth analysis, specific discussion questions, quotes of passages you liked, etc. It's all good, and it's completely your choice.
Some of you suggested contacting the authors to let them know that their fic was going to be discussed. We'll leave that up to each discussion host. If you would like to invite the authors to participate or alert them about the discussion, please contact them via e-mail.
Some of the same fics were requested by more than one person. We'll do our best to distribute the fics fairly, so if you notice that one of your requested fics is being hosted by someone else, that's why.
Some of the requested fics are by authors who have asked that their fics not be discussed. So if you don't see one of your fics on the schedule at all, this may be the reason why.
Some of you requested to host more than two fics. While we're thrilled by your enthusiasm, our initial schedule will limit things to two fics per host maximum to give everyone a chance.
If you’re hosting a death!fic or something angsty, please put warnings at the top of your post.
Just a gentle reminder that this is a chance to talk about specific fics and why we love them. It's fine to comment on why something in the fic didn't work for you, or what you would have liked to see instead. But please keep the comments civil and appreciative of the authors' time and efforts. Flaming, sniping, and rude comments will not be tolerated and will be deleted.
OK, that about covers things for now. Thanks everybody for your patience as we continue working to put this project together!
