I prefer spelling it Brighton with the O because, aside from my feeling that it is grammatically correct, it is a place in England, and it is a custom to give homes proper names of other places.
It's not a common practice where I live, but I noticed that - forgive me - cute habit on my travels through Great Britain. (Spent a lovely time in Brighton, by the way. *G*) When I finally manage to move to Scotland permanently I'm sure I will name my home, too.
