This was beautifully heartbreaking. The whole thing just worked so beautifully, and I was so absorbed into it. You always do the characters justice.
I love your Brian-I feel he is very canon-based, but more consistent than canon, if that makes sense. basically you take canon Brian and present him the way I think he should be, not mess with him like CowLip did.
One of my favorite passages was:
I took him somewhere expensive, and bought champagne, and halfway through the dinner I realized I'd made a mistake. He was laughing, and flushed, and just a little drunk, not on a few glasses of champagne, but on catching me looking at his paintings.
And I was drunk on him.
This also got me:
"God," he said, his face buried in my neck. "I'm never going to stop loving you."
And broke my heart here:
He nodded at the bed. "This. Sleep with you. Listen to you tell me you love me, now, after it's…" He stopped.
