"Where did you find that?" Justin tried not to laugh as Brian struggled to drag the bulky object through the loft door before letting it fall with a thump in the middle of the mostly empty space.

"It was in the back of the storage room. I'd almost forgotten about it until the movers took out the last of the boxes."

Justin walked over to the lumpy mattress and plopped down on top of it. "Are you planning on bringing it with us?"

It was Brian's turn to laugh. "It doesn't exactly go with the décor." Justin let out an "oomph" as Brian sprawled down next to him.

"I'm not sure it ever went with the décor. What made you buy it in the first place?" Justin rolled towards Brian and shifted until they were lying side-by-side, Brian on his back and Justin leaning into him.

"Damned if I know." Brian relaxed further and closed his eyes as Justin ran a hand through his hair. "We sure put it to good use though, didn't we?"

"I seem to recall having a bit of fun on it, now that you mention it." Justin smiled as he moved on top of Brian and let their lips brush. He felt Brian smile in return and sighed at the feeling of strong hands on his back.

"What time do we have to be out of here?" Justin asked as he kissed his way down Brian's neck and squirmed a little.

Brian responded by arching up against him. "Not 'til tomorrow. But in light of the fact that the furniture's gone and the place is pretty much cleared out, I thought we'd stay at a hotel tonight."

Justin returned his mouth to Brian's and let his tongue play over Brian's lips before pausing to respond. "We could just stay here. Looks like we have a place to sleep, at least."

Brian groaned as Justin rubbed with greater purpose against him.

"I don’t recall ever sleeping on this thing before. Did we ever do that?"

Justin thought for a minute as his fingers worked the buttons on Brian's shirt. "Well, if you count passing out after fucking for hours and hours sleeping, then sure. We've slept on it before."

Brian laughed, but it quickly turned into a moan as Justin licked at his nipple before taking it into his mouth and sucking lightly. And he knew he wouldn't be getting much sleep on the old mattress tonight, either.

*****

"What about this, sir? You want it on the truck?"

Brian turned to look where the mover indicated, waving a hand at the futon. Justin came down from the steps then, and Brian glanced over at him before answering the question.

"Sure, yeah. On the truck."

"You got it. And that's the last of it. Should be in New York by about 4 o'clock, depending on traffic." And with that, he and his associate hoisted the bulky mattress up and carried it out the door.

The loft rang with sudden silence, and Brian was startled when he felt Justin brush a hand against his shoulder.

"I'll meet you downstairs," he said before giving Brian a quick kiss and then heading out. He turned once at the door and took a final look around before smiling. Then he was gone and Brian stood alone in the empty space.

"Just four walls and a floor," he murmured, surprised at the sound of his voice in the openness. He waited a moment, for what he wasn't sure. Then he was at the door, sliding it shut for a final time. Without looking back, he made his way towards the stairs, following Justin to the street below.

Beautiful goodbye to the loft. I love this line:
Justin thought for a minute as his fingers worked the buttons on Brian's shirt. "Well, if you count passing out after fucking for hours and hours sleeping, then sure. We've slept on it before."

Not sure who did either of the two, but it's definitely safe to say that I love both the graphic and the fic. They go very very well together!

I've never really liked fics where the two of them both leave behind Pittsburgh and go to NY, but the scene that you created for this fic was beautiful :)

Looking back and moving forward. Lovely quiet reminiscence. I love that Justin gave Brian a minute there alone. Nice job.

Thanks for contributing!

This made me nostalgic - for the loft, for the memories, for the time to come which I can't see. You pulled at my heartstrings with this well done little fic.

brian's sentimentality over the mattress is wonderful and the graphic brings back lots of memories at the same time:

"I seem to recall having a bit of fun on it, now that you mention it." ...i remember, too...lol.

i unexpectedly felt a pang of nostalgia with this:

"Just four walls and a floor,"

great fic.

The pictures the graphic is made of are terrific, but it's the text that gives it such a great punch. Excellent job, mystery artist!

I liked this ficlet a lot. And for no particular reason, this line made me smile.

Brian relaxed further and closed his eyes as Justin ran a hand through his hair. "We sure put it to good use though, didn't we?"

I always get a little lonesome for the loft in "moving out" fics, but I liked how you handled the end of this.

Thanks to you both for participating!

Without looking back, he made his way towards the stairs, following Justin to the street below... brian never wanted to admit that the loft meant more to him,but i am glad he realized that when you have someone in your life to share it with.. this was a great story and graphic..

Definitely full of the love. I'm sure they had so many memories of that futon. Brian leaving the loft for the last time was kinda bittersweet. They had so many memories of the loft too, but he's going with Justin to NY. :)

Ah, the angst of leaving one home for another.

Glad they had something with sentimental value to get them through the last night...or if not sentimental, at least redolent of hot sex.

Nicely done. FanSee
