Who: She'era Ruis
From: DnD Land
Prompt: 13: Adventure!
By: Sam
Note: A possible pup...
She prowled around the corner, every sense on fire. She'era Ruis, wizard and adventurer, was entirely confused and praying for some good luck. She had been cut off from her group by trolls and rockfalls, and now was somewhere, deep in this damn dungeon, and lost, to boot.
She shook her head.
She had gotten herself into this, a quest to find the Hand of Vecna, an evil artifact that had suddenly popped back onto the radar, and was attracting evil by the drove. She and her team were one of about a dozen who had been sent in to find it while others fought a standing action against the forces of night. She had been eager to learn and to fight for good, and earn the bounty, which would help her get more components and more spell books.
Now, she was lost, and she had no idea if the rest of her team was alive or dead.
She came around the corner, and scrambled to a halt as she stared into the hungry faces of five very large goblins.
"Mmmm, tender morsel! Come to be the plaything for us! Or for Master!"
"Oh fuck the world."
She swore and threw up a handful of dust, chanting as she snapped her hands into motions fast, hoping she could get the spell out.
Light bloomed across the space as she snapped her eyes shut, and glowing green balls of sheer magic spat out toward the goblins, blowing a couple of their feet and making a hole through them, which she darted toward.
She made it, almost, until a solid something came down across her skull, and she collapsed, darkness swimming up for her.
When she awoke, she saw a looming blue and green mottled face above her, belonging to an ogre magi in priestly robes. He held the Hand in one, ah, hand, and a very big knife in the other.
"Ah, the sacrifice awakes!"
"Aw, hell. Not this again!"
She hated Ogre Magi! And even worse, she was naked, and tied down to an altar! Damn it, did not any of them have any imagination! This stone was cold.
"Give him hell, little one!"
She twisted in her bindings, and peered at where her fellow party members were held by goblins. There was Djavor, a Radiant Servant of Pelor, who had cheered her on. He was old fashioned, but the purest man she knew.
An idea formed.
"Hey, Djavor, still working on your long shots?"
He looked blank for a moment, then blanched.
"Yes, but... Sheer!"
They were cut off by the booming voice of the ogre.
"Cease! I will have order! Soon, this little one will die, and all will be flooded under the darkness of my Master, Vecna!"
She hummed, concentrating as she brought her will to bear and wiggled a little, trying to see if she had any leeway. Thankfully, the ropes were not tied tight, and her plan would be easy to work... if possibly fatal.
She wished her friend was there fort a moment, then shook her head.
No time.
The priest was chanting now, making all sorts of motions and it was enough for her to mumble very softly under her breath, the spell. Even as he brought the blade down, she yanked on her bonds, and twisted so that the blade would slide through a pouch attached to her side. It cut her and the pouch, and blood mixed with the wild magic dust inside. She shouted the last word of the spell, a telekinesis spell and drew on the magic, straining in a way no wizard was supposed to, and the Hand of Vecna, idol of evil shot across the room and landed in the hands of a ready and already chanting Djavor.
Radiant power rose around Djavor as Pelor let his pleasure in his servant be known and poured cleansing magic down on the Hand.
She'era had her own problems as the wild magic had exploded into a whirling hole in space. The Ogre Magi went first, and she was being pulled toward it next.
She tried to grab the ropes that held her, but the lance of pain that shot through her side made her fingers open. She grabbed for her bag of things, laying to one side, and the next moment she fell into the light, and was gone.
And then she landed, and cried out, as her side reminded her it was not happy.
And she looked around. Giant metal monsters roared along nearby , and people stared at her, and strange lights were everywhere.
What kind of hell was she in?
