Chosen by magic itself, it is the Prime Magnus’ responsibility to protect the world from magical catastrophe and keep it shielded from extra-dimensional beings seeking to feast on the riches of the Earth. Each Prime Magnus has approached their duties differently, some using the incredible powers at their command to benefit the world, others to alter it as they see best. It was the decision of one Prime Magnus to hide magic from humanity at large, concealing in the shadows to keep humanity from abusing it or those that can tap into it. Another was responsible for casting Atlantis to the pits of the ocean when they threatened the world’s balance, another battled the Thule Society during World War II to maintain balance. Regardless of how they choose to carry out their duty, one is a Prime Magnus until death claims them or until their powers abandon them for straying from their responsibilities.
It has been nearly two years now since Quinn Hinds inherited the mantle of Prime Magnus and he has shown himself to be the mirror of his predecessor. Where the previous Prime Magnus rarely left his citadel to interfere with the happenings of the world, Quinn has embraced his power and actively battles the threats he finds to the earth’s balance a task proving to be increasingly difficult. The twenty-first century brought with it all new challenges, a camera in everyone’s cell phone and the internet making the world that much smaller makes it nearly impossible for magic to remain hidden away. Nearly every week brings with it another viral video of an alleged witch or a sighting of a monster out of mythology. However, it isn’t just the humans making Quinn’s job harder, those he is supposed to lead, other magic-users, have grown sick of living in the shadows of humanity. A growing voice among them are demanding change, are questioning whether the need for a Prime Magnus might be coming to a close.
With problems like these keeping the Prime Magnus distracted, sending him to all corners of the globe, has provided those seeking discord with the perfect opportunity to forever alter this world and bring about an age of chaos.
