who: Nic & Jamie
what: Meeting
when: Around 8pm
where: Starbucks!

Ever since Monday afternoon, Nic's stomach had been in knots. She really cared about Jason (Nic wouldn't dare say love this early on, she wasn't going down that road again) and she absolutely adored Kathleen, but knowing that they had previously dated just made things... weird. She couldn't very well talk to Kathleen about it without feeling extremely awkward, and she didn't want to confront Jason and upset him, but she had to get it off her chest. That's why she had updated her journal. And in all honesty, she hadn't thought a random person would come by and comment on her entry with the same exact issue going on with his relationship. Of course Nic knew that she wasn't the only person in Providence going through a rough patch in her relationship, she just hadn't expected something like this to happen. Not that she was going to turn down the chance to talk to someone about it. Jamie knew just what she was going through, who cared if she didn't know him? That was all going to change later that evening anyway.

So when 7 rolled around, the blonde went about her business and cleaned her station up, putting away her tools and folding her capes, before she escaped the salon. Nic knew she didn't have enough time to run home and change out of her black slacks and work polo, but she did have enough time to run into Delia's and get something not so... professional. She bought a simple white t-shirt and this hoodie, not able to resist its cuteness factor. After purchasing the two, Nic swung by the bathrooms and changed, as well as redid her ponytail and touched her make-up up, before heading out to her car and over to Starbucks.

When she got there, she realized she didn't have any clue whatsoever as to what Jamie looked like. Stuffing her hands into the pockets of her hoodie, Nic decided to stand near the door and just wait, hoping that he would recognize her as the tall blonde. The tall blonde turning eight shades of red if he decided to call out her name.

Snickering, Jamie nodded. “Yeah, next time. I’ll embarrass you at some point, don’t worry. I tend to embarrass people all the time,” he smiled, then rose a brow at her next comment. “Battle paint? I didn’t even think about that one! You’re good,” he said, pointing at her and letting a smile cross his face again. “I should write your name in battle paint across my forehead,” he snickered, shaking his head. “Okay, I’m done weirding you out, promise,” he laughed, scratching the back of his neck while he waited in the line, glancing up at the menu to see what the coffee shop offered that he wanted. He knew he’d probably just end up getting a frappachino, since that was what he usually got, but who knew? Maybe he’d go crazy and get something different.

Glancing back at Nic and nodding when she complimented his major, Jamie smiled. “It’s really interesting, yeah,” he told her, putting one of his hands into his pocket of his jeans, and gesturing with the other while he talked. “See … criminal psychology isn’t really a major. No schools offer it. So I’m really just double majoring. I’m majoring in Psychology, and then minoring in Criminal Justice,” he told her, scratching behind his head again. “What I really want to do is get into like, the FBI as a criminal profiler or something like that. I’m good at that stuff, and it’s something I really want to do,” he told her, shrugging. Giving her a smile, he shoved his second hand into his pockets as well. “Sorry, I don’t mean to bore you with that stuff … I just get really talkative about my major once I get started,” he laughed a little, shrugging. “But, I’m in my last year, I graduate in May. So, that’s exciting,” he nodded.

Stepping up to the counter after Nicole did, Jamie change his mind at the last minute and opted to just go with a tall café mocha. He was in the mood for a hot coffee instead of something cold, and he loved mocha. It made coffee taste so much better, he thought. Turning to her after he paid and moved down to wait for his coffee, Jamie crossed his arms over his chest. “You’re a hair stylist? That’s pretty awesome. I, unfortunately, wouldn’t have much use for you,” he pointed at his short spiky hair, “but if I ever need a haircut, now I know who to go to,” he smiled. “I usually wait until I go home to see the folks to get my hair cut, but maybe I’ll trust you with some scissors,” he smiled. “Where am I from?” he repeated, turning around when he heard his name called. Both his and Nicole’s drink orders were ready, and he grabbed both of them, handing hers to her. “I’m from a small town in Colorado. I moved here for school, and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to stay here when I graduate,” he nodded his head. “What about you? Are you originally from Providence?” he asked.

He was quite an entertaining character, Nic would definitely give him that. "I was thinking more along the lines of Braveheart, but my name across your forehead could be fun, too," she teased, feeling at complete ease with him. The blonde didn't think it was weird in the least that she felt so comfortable around Jamie, who was still basically a stranger. Nic had four brothers and because of that, she grew up surrounded by them and their friends, swimming in testosterone. She did, however, find it a little bit odd that she felt she could already be open with him, and that she really didn't have to watch what she said around him. Not that she felt that way around Jason! No, no. It was just...Jason was more of the thoughtful, deep type (at least the Jason she knew was) and Jamie seemed to be outgoing and silly.

She listened as he explained his situation with his studies at the university and nodded. When he apologized, she lifted a hand and waved it off with a shake of her head. "I think you'd get along with my older brothers," she told him with a small grin, "they both attended the police academy." Her lips twitched for a moment before she leaned in, almost like she were telling him a secret. "Don't tell them this, but what you want to do sounds so much cooler." She tossed a wink at him as she stepped back, grinning. Nic loved her brothers, she did, but criminal psychology? Wow.

"I'd be happy to trim your hair," she smiled. "And I assure you I'm quite talented with a pair of scissors, thank you." Nic didn't go to through training every other month to get rusty with her tools of the trade, that much she was sure of. Not that she minded, it was fun to learn new cuts and tricks and what not. Taking her drink from him as he handed it to her, she thanked him and turned to move towards a table near the window. Colorado? A part of her was tempted to ask him if he knew Kate, but she figured it was silly. Colorado was a big state...and there was no way another weird coincidence would happen. "Born and raised," she answered, shaking the Colorado train of thought from her head as she took a seat. "I took off for about a year and a half for school, but that's the only time I've ever left the state." Setting her drink down on the surface, she crossed her legs and leaned forward a little, propping her chin in her upturned palm. "So I can't be the only one who finds it bizarre we're meeting on such...unique terms," Nic let out with a small chuckle, figuring she might as well get the obvious out in the open.
