Death Eaters were imprisoned, wounds healed, and the Wizarding World spent the next decade healing from the pain of the first war. Yet, Voldemort was not truly defeated that night. He will rise once more, bringing upon another vicious war upon the Wizarding World. Everyone knows the story of James and Lily Potter and the story of their son, Harry, but until now, the story of what happened in between has been unknown. It is 1990, the year before Harry Potter will discover he is a Wizard. Professor Quirrell is off to Albania where he will become a vessel for the weakened Dark Lord, Charlie Weasley and his friends are in their seventh-year at Hogwarts, learning all about love, life, and Quidditch, and the foundation for the future is being paved. [10 Aug 2009|11:07am] Premise It's 1997, and the trio is stuck in hiding since Dumbledore's death at Hogwarts at the end of their Sixth Year. Now determined to find the Horcruxes, they have fled into hiding until they are able to find and destroy every last one. Meanwhile, Voldemort has taken over the Ministry of Magic, declaring himself Minister and enstating his most devoted Death Eaters into the Ministry itself. His first order of business, was to segregate any witches and wizards who do not have a Pure-blood family lineage out of London and into Basildon. This left many families without a school in which to send their children to continue their education. The Order, naturally working to clean up any mess that the Dark Lord makes of the wizarding community, puts together a new school, in which Remus Lupin fronts as Headmaster. They name it Ordosun, and begin accepting students immediately, with all former Hogwarts teachers free to rank up in the faculty. It is only when confused looking witches and wizards from the past begin to appear in Knockturn Alley, that the Order promotes "Watchers" as a means to go and collect the confused people before the Dark Lord is able to get his hands on them. The Watchers stake out in London, making Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place their command center. Due to the risk involved in remaining in London, only experienced and pure-blood Order members are allowed. After talking to some of the confused patrons, it seems as though the rift in time was caused by mis-firing Time Turners they were using when transported. Professor Snape becomes the new Headmaster at Hogwarts for any remaining pure-blood students, a few Death Eaters taking root in the school to become teachers, themselves. The times are dark, and with the trio running out of time, and Voldemort taking over the wizarding world one inch at a time- which side will you choose to fight? Inside, there are castles towering to the sky, enchanted forests, and a host of magical creatures, but despite all of that, the kingdom is still cursed. Not just the kingdom as a whole; every single inhabitant of Regaling is born with their own curse. Some are meant to be broken, others will remain unbreakable. Regaling is one giant fairy tale. Your character will be the hero of their story, a victim in another, a love interest in the next, and maybe a villain in all the rest. Regaling is an AU multifandom animanga, book/movie, and video game role-play with a heavy importance on character development and humor with hi-jinks!!1! versus a complicated plot. The game is set up in a loose way in the hopes that characters will be able to make the game develop without having very much set in stone. It is designed in the form of a kingdom of fairy tales, with each character assuming a role in their own story and inevitably affecting the other stories around them. The Kingdom of Regaling itself is under a curse that includes curse days, during which the majority of Regaling's inhabitants will suffer from the same basic curse. It could, for example, be a day when everyone switches curses, or maybe forgets about the person they hold the most important to them. However, on the normal days (and I'm using "normal" lightly here~) each character must live with their own curse. As part of Regaling's curse, each person who enters the Kingdom of Regaling, be it by birth or travel, will have a curse placed upon them. The curse is theirs alone and, if they are lucky enough, they will find a way to break it. Unfortunately, being the emo kingdom that it is, Regaling's troubles do not end with curses. No, Regaling also suffers from even more supernatural forces fighting against it. Dragons enjoy snatching up princesses, the mountains are home to god-knows-what but they're awfully loud at night, and no one is quite sure of when the next plague will hit. Simple products of evolution, certain people were born with gifts that normal humans couldn't begin to fathom being able to accomplish. Most joked about the idea of superheroes and described these abilities as "powers" on the streets. Some, of course, didn't trust this advantage. Regardless, it wasn't abnormal to see somebody on the street corner cooling their glass of lemonade with their hands, or a shop owner doing the work of three men all with his mind. They were your brothers, your sisters, your neighbors, your teachers... They existed, and everyone knew it. America was prospering, life was content for most, and the economy continued to grow. Then disaster struck. America became too comfortable with their place as top dog. They became a bullying country, certain that nothing bad would befall them. On the evening of April 05, 2009, a cybernetic attack on the United States took place, wiping out every computer system in the country, and taking over those belonging to the military. Our own bombs attacked us, the economy crashed overnight, and within days America went from super power to third world country. The rich suddenly found themselves dirt poor when the computers recording their monetary earnings erased every cent; business after business went bankrupt. Soon crime was on the rise, and people had to jump through hoops to survive. In the wake of the destruction, a scape goat was needed. They blamed mutants. People that used to dine with their mutant neighbor soon started to attack them. Murders became the norm, and with as much chaos as there was, most went ignored. The bad economy made way for crooked cops, the rise of gangs and mafias, and, of course, every scumbag looking for a pay day to run rampant. The U.S. government, determined to build an army and get revenge, and the resources for the most powerful army was just staring them in the face. They began abducting mutants off of the streets to bring them back to a secret division known as Operation X to perform experiments on them. They were looking for ways to boost powers, but more importantly, they needed a way to control the mutants they captured. The danger was fierce, so those with powers took a variety of measures to escape persecution. Some denied what they truly were and attempted to live their lives in the new world as normal humans, hoping to never slip up in front of the wrong person. Others banded together and hid in a mostly ruined part of the country that used to be Manhattan that is rumored to be haunted, radioactive, and all other sorts of crazy superstitions (most created by the mutants living there to keep normal humans away). Still others thrived in the new dog-eat-dog world, using their powers to swindle people out of their money. In 2020, it gets worse. All things prior to 2009 have been eradicated from the computers, but the country slowly starts to rebuild. Eventually, people start to figure out how to survive almost normally. Computers are relied upon less, new jobs are created to take the place of robotics, and people have figured out ways to cut corners due to the shortages of items at different times--and gas at all times. Used to this way of life, people become ignorant to the allocation of funds to Operation X, which has used ten years to develop a method of brainwash that has so far proven foolproof. Each expendable test subject brings them a step closer to creating the power boosters, and an even darker world lay on the horizon for the ostracized mutants as their friends disappear--and sometimes reappear as their enemies. It forces most to head for the Broken City, as dubbed by those who founded it, a mostly underground city that looks worse than the world surrounding it but works enough to keep them alive.
