Deceptive Perception - A Semi-Anonymous Supernatural-Type RP [29 May 2009|02:47am] Deceptive Perception The land known as Inora consists of a set of islands that cradle more than just mortals in its loving embrace. They were said to have been created by vampires long ago. This gave them a place to live among the mortals who fed them while painting the earth red with blood. Eventually, other races were thrown into the fray and a century of war was fought for supremacy. Centuries passed between rulers and the times of war seemed to almost be forgotten. The treaty between the demons and vampires has always been upheld. The werewolves have always protected the treaty and, eventually, winds of change blew through the lands. Times evolved and an industrial revolution took hold. All was well with the lands. But even something as simple as your perception can be deceptive and nothing is ever perfect... The latest in a long line of demonic kings has died and the vampires have come back into the throne. Even with this change, death and violence still run rampant through Inora's streets and it seems the Gunslingers are unable to stop it. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution..? You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on.”-Veronica Mars Seven years ago, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell, finally bringing an end to his vicious reign of power and terror. Yet, the war did not end with his death. For years, the Wizarding World has worked to repair the damages left during the aftermath of war. Emotional burdens have yet to fully heal, too many lives destroyed, families torn apart, and friends lost. Hogwarts was left in rubble, unable to reopen for years, the damage too great, endless sweat and tears shed as people worked to rebuild the foundations to give their children a future. Death Eaters still roam free, cunningly avoiding even the best Aurors, leaving many in fear that another war will be on the horizon. As things begin to resemble some semblance of normalcy, an old follower of Voldemort is in the wings, plotting his revenge, gathering the remaining Death Eaters and new followers, planning to unleash a new war, wanting to finish his master’s vision. In the Ministry, a serial killer is murdering powerful political figures, leaving everyone pointing fingers and letting things slip through the cracks. Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban, butchering countless individuals as he runs from Aurors, gathering and making new werewolves in his travels, gathering an army to strike against the Ministry. All the while, the Muggle World is at war, affecting the Wizarding World as it heightens. The world is in complete chaos. Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt is determined to rebuild the Wizarding Community into a vision of peace and has called forth some of the best Aurors from around the world in an effort to clean up the United Kingdom, determined to capture and imprison the remaining Death Eaters and send a clear message of constant vigilance to those seeking to do more harm. Many are unhappy with the Minister’s plans, many seeking to replace him and other important individuals, some willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals. The Wizarding World is torn between fully recovering and moving forward and taking two steps back, arriving right back where they left off seven years ago. They walk among us, OBSERVING. In the beginning, there were only the humans, and, amongst them, a cursed woman. She was a good woman, pure and kind, but wherever she went, misfortune followed her. Whenever she lit a candle, it went out. If she petted a puppy, it died. If she fed a bird from her hand, the bird would fall from it, dead. Children died in the houses she visited, and the power of her curse opened a Vortex of Damnation around her. With it came the first forces of Darkness. Warriors of the Light rose up to fight the darkness, and thus began the battle between the Light and the Dark. The area continues to attract musicians, artists, and other people looking for cheap rent close to Manhattan. While one might mention the creaking pipes, the peeling olive green wallpaper in the hallways, or how the temperamental elevators never make it to the top floor, Clermont Heights is filled with interesting characters and always-fun, too-close for comfort neighborly relationships. Even though the cranky landlady, Mrs. Winchell, who spends more time interested in her cats than helping residents might not be a selling point, when rent is between $900 and $1300 a month, college students and mid-to-low-income families can't afford to complain too much. The Light of May [29 May 2009|08:10pm] On May 1st, 2009, nation leaders spoke together to reveal a truth to the world: the supernatural world is real. Vampires, werewolves, and more exist. They have been known to the government for a long time, and now they are coming out of the shadows - and they come with a message. They are not a threat. They mean no danger to humans. But there are other things out there that do. The days that followed changed everything most people believed they knew about the world, about history, and most importantly, about themselves. Celebrities, politicians, the family down the street - they began revealing their true identities, and telling the world what they really were. Missing people that had been turned against their will came out of hiding, and orginizations popped up to reunite them with their families. The revealing of the supernatural was penned in the media as the Light of May, as society made room for the supernatural. It wasn't easy. Many, human and supernatural alike, were terrified of what this would mean. Some wanted to keep the supernatural abominations down. Leading figures of both Democratic and Republican parties were revealed to be supernaturals themselves, and joined together to fight for civil rights for the supernatural. It is revealed that if the supernatural were wiped out, half of the entire world's population would be gone. Independent parties popped up through-out the country, opposing supernatural rights, and the fight goes on. But those aren't the only battles being fought. Why did the Light of May happen? If the supernatural has always existed, why are they only making themselves known now? For centuries, those with supernatural blood have been hunted, held, and killed - all for the benefits of their blood to hunters, and vampires who don't want to play by the rules of etiquette. There was a time when the angels, and even the fae, fought to protect them. But the fae have been extinct for hundreds of years, and worse - the angels seem to have disappeared. There is nothing fighting the demons of the world at bay now. The human race is at risk, and they are not alone. The Light of May is an original supernatural game, taking place in a time when the world is adjusting to the world that has been hidden since the beginning of time. The game is set in Ann Arbor, Michigan, centered around a fictional township called Scarlet Oak. Characters of many races are up for play, as are those trusty humans. The Light of May will be focusing on characters adjustments and the eventual struggle against demons, hunters, and more. The Light of May is for original characters only. Pre-existing fandom characters will not be allowed. The Light of May is a friendly, plot-oriented group, well established with 90+ characters. We have two helpful and friendly mods, willing to go out of there way to make sure everyone gets in on the fun, as well as regular (and optional) OOC social chats on the weekends.
